There's someone at your front door – should you let them in? Find out in a riveting new thriller from global sensation and #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Housemaid, Freida McFadden!
Who knows what the storm will blow in…
Casey's cabin in the wilderness is not built for a hurricane. Her roof shakes, the lights flicker, and the tree outside her front door sways ominously in the wind. But she's a lot more worried about the girl she discovers lurking outside her kitchen window.
She's young. She's alone. And she's covered in blood.
The girl won't explain where she came from, or loosen her grip on the knife in her right hand. And when Casey makes a disturbing discovery in the middle of the night, things take a turn for the worse.
The girl has a dark secret. One she'll kill to keep. And if Casey gets too close to the truth, she may not live to see the morning.
In this taut, deadly tale of survival and desperation, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden explores how far one girl will go to save herself.

This was probably one of my favorite Freida books I have ever read. I thought the style of writing in this was next level and much darker than her other books - which I absolutely loved. I was captivated from the first page and flew through the entire story within 24 hours. To say this book was addicting is an understatement. Told in multiple POVs, the story takes you on a crazy ride with short punchy chapters, endless twists and a ton of “wtf is going on??” moments. I loved the setting, I loved the characters, I loved the storyline and everything in between. An easy 5 star read for me!

Frieda’s best work yet! I had chills the last half hour! This book left me questioning nothing, she crossed all the T’s dotted all of the I’s.

If you’re looking for a thriller that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go, The Intruder delivers in spades. Freida McFadden has once again proven she’s the queen of psychological suspense, weaving a tale that’s as chilling as it is emotionally layered.
The pacing is relentless, the atmosphere gothic and eerie, and the twists? Let’s just say I gasped out loud more than once. Every detail matters—colors, names, even the creak of a floorboard—and McFadden uses them masterfully to build suspense. I felt like a detective scribbling notes, only to have my theories deliciously shattered which we all know she’s the best at doing!
The Intruder isn’t just a thriller—it’s a haunting exploration of what we’re willing to risk for safety, truth, and connection. I devoured it in one sitting and immediately wanted to talk about it with someone. So here I am, recommending it to you!!

Freida McFadden channeled her inner Stephen King for her latest book, The Intruder. Imagine a dark and stormy night, a cabin in the woods, the trees swaying and the roof sagging. The power goes out. A flashlight turns on in the tool shed. Do you go investigate? Brave (or foolish?) Casey says "yes" and that begins a long and dangerous night where no one is who they seem, and each knock brings new fears.
Alternating between that dark night and a young girl's story of abuse, McFadden weaves a tale of resilience and revenge, best read on a dark and stormy night.
** Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own. **
Freida McFadden delivers yet another twisty, dark, surprising tale. I enjoyed the ride, while at the same time always expecting the unexpected, which can get tiresome. No other writer that I follow has that many crazy twists and I've come to expect them, which I don't like. But I still enjoy her novels very much and ~ like an addict~ always get excited when a new one comes out. Thank you #netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
