Description
The unmissable new mystery in the Thursday Murder Club series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Richard Osman
Who's got time to think about murder when there's a wedding to plan?
It’s been a quiet year for the Thursday Murder Club. Joyce is busy with table plans and first dances. Elizabeth is grieving. Ron is dealing with family troubles, and Ibrahim is still providing therapy to his favorite criminal.
But when Elizabeth meets Nick, a wedding guest asking for her help, she finds the thrill of the chase is ignited once again. And when Nick disappears without a trace, his cagey business partner becomes the gang’s next stop. It seems the duo have something valuable—something worth killing for.
Joyce’s daughter, Joanna, jumps into the fray to help the gang as they seek answers: Has someone kidnapped Nick? And what’s this uncrackable code they keep hearing about? Plunged back into action once more, can the four friends solve the puzzle and a murder in time?

Oh my goddddd — this might have dethroned book #2 as my favorite in the series (though it could be recency bias… might need to just reread the whole series to test it out). Without a shadow of a doubt, this is a 5 star read.
This was so so cute, and charming, and as wholesome as ever. One of my favorite things about this series is how, with every book, we grow more familiar with the characters. At this point, every line of dialogue feels so distinct and true to who they are. It is so SO impressive how Richard Osman is able to give each character such a defining personality AND keep them consistent throughout all (now) 5 books.
I love how each book has focused on a different character’s personal life - and I absolutely loved getting to know more about Ron. Up until now he was probably my least favorite in the group and after reading this book I could cry just thinking about him. And I’m OBSESSSSSED with Kendrick omg - that boy stole the show.
This story seamlessly bridges the time that passed after the 4th book - seeing Joyce be there for Elizabeth, and also the many nods of the strengths of both women and how they make each other better. I just love it so much and I love how the author used Joanna as a way to show this. Loved getting to know he more too.
I also loved how seamlessly this book bridged the time jump from 4th book, specifically with Joyce being there for Elizabeth, and highlighting how both women’s strengths complement each other. And I loved how the author used Joanna as a way to show this. Getting to know her was such a treat!!!!
An amazing, amazing read!!!! Can't wait for the next one.

Thank you to Richard Osman, NetGalley, and Penguin Publishing for providing me with a free ebook in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the fifth book in the Thursday Murder Club Series and it just keeps getting better! All of the usual characters that I've missed since book four are back and there are some new additions! I love that Richard Osman's characters are so deep, flawed, and many faceted. They are all various amounts of confident, timid, brave, scared, evil (well, except for Joyce!), good-hearted, and all of the other emotions, just like real people. And now I miss them all over again until book number six comes out way too long from now.

Richard Osman does it again! A twisty mystery, full of shady characters and dodgy dealings. But more than that, he adds to and deepens the characters we already know and love. these are not static stock characters, they feel like living, breathing people--like friends we have grown to love and can still be surprised by. At the heart of this story is family--family by blood, and family by choice--and what people will do for the people they love. It was great to see the gang together again, and to delight in their shenanigans and friendships. Can't wait for the next one.

4.5 stars for "The Impossible Fortune" which is the fifth installment of Richard Osman's "Thursday Murder Club" series about four senior sleuths in the English countryside (soon to be a movie!) I found this installment a very welcome return to the Cooper's Chase retirement village - with the gang all getting on with it, and Joyce's daughter about to get married! But of course, there's a new case about to upset their plans and the mystery involves crypto, a bomb and a big twist! Really fast-paced, and I could barely put it down! I love this series so much & was very glad to get another book to enjoy! My most sincere thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for my advance reader's copy - so very happy to have gotten an early opportunity to read & review it!

The Thursday Murder Club will always be 5* for me.
Watching them grow through each book, coping with the shift in their lives and the world around them, loss of love and health but not of each other.
I know one day our time with them will end, but I hope it’s not anytime soon.

Another winner in The Thursday Murder club series! It was a blast to catch up with Joyce, Elizabeth, Ron and Ibrahim. Joyce is planning her daughter’s wedding, and Elizabeth is trying to come to terms with her loss. At the wedding, Elizabeth has a guest, Nick Silver, ask her for her unique brand of help. She soon enlists the Thursday Murder Club in trying to figure out who is trying to kill Nick Silver. With twists aplenty and TTMC signature wit and style, this one will be hard to put down. Be sure to read this (and the whole series if you haven’t) today!
