Ronan grew on me, he slowly got his head out of his butt and manned up, "Brenna, don’t.” He leaned forward again. “Don’t pretend… Surely you know that I care. I have always cared." I really did like him, "the door? I don’t give a damn about the door.” He was laughing at her. “Aren’t you listening, sweetheart ? I’m asking you to be my wife. Blast it. I knew I should have concocted something more elaborate." I liked this book I enjoyed the story.

I thought this was an excellent story!! A great second chance story with great writing and some very intriguing characters. Brenna and Ronan spent a magical summer together nine years ago but one day he disappeared from her life. Now nine years later, it's obvious he is a prince and she would never have fit into his life but his family needs her help and she can't say no.

An excellent read and I highly recommend it.

What a beautiful, fun, loving story His Defiant Princess is. Who doesn’t love a happily ever after fairy tale, one that exists in modern days?

Brenna and her friend-business partner, Willow and Willow’s baby Maise now live in the beautiful land of Cornetta. Situated along the sea, this small kingdom could easily have been pictured in any fairy tale. It was here that Brenna returned to after her life in America fell apart. Her father’s death, her ex-husband’s deception and fraud, they all took a toll. This was the one place she could rebuild again. There were happy memories here, perhaps touched with a bit of sadness, but mostly the happiest time of her life was spent in this country. She and Willow had established their PR Firm here and were known for their abilities and their refusal to take on any dishonest or corrupt clients. They would give their clients their absolute best, but the clients had to be innocent, and honestly in need of their services. This was their line in the sand that was never crossed.

Ronan had once loved a free spirited young American. She was everything he wasn’t. He had not meant to hurt her, he only wanted to have a bit of freedom before his princely duties took over his life. He hadn’t expected to hurt himself either by loving her so deeply, and leaving her so suddenly without even a goodbye spoken. There were reasons beyond his control, but she still lived in his heart even when he knew she would never be a part of his life. Oh, he knew she was back in Cornetta and that had to be enough.

Prince Ronan was the “spare”, such a horrid title but still true. His brother Emory was the heir. Solid, sensible, courtly Emory who never took a misstep – until today. Why in the world had he not known the microphone was live? How could he have been so foolish, so insensitive as to say that stupid comment for all the world to hear? Well, it was done, no going back. Yet Ronan knew exactly who to call for help and to take control of this unfortunate situation – Brenna.

It was such fun to simply fall into this story. Ronan and Brenna obviously still had feelings for each other. Yet the main purpose was to save Emory from his blunder. We are brought into the Palace and find the people within are far more human than we often believe possible. It’s here that Brenna works her PR magic, and here that Roman will come to realize that he cannot walk away from her again.

I so enjoyed this story. The images were sharp, the story smoothly paced and even for their royalty – the characters believable. I loved Queen Esme, she was a delight and I’m hoping that Emory and Willow at least meet each other or more in a future tale. Probably not, but I think they’d be perfect for each other. (Read the story, you’ll understand)

Highly recommend His Defiant Princess for anyone who enjoys a light, fun and easily resolved love story. Or, heck, anyone who believes in love would eat this up with a spoon. Go check it out for yourself.

3.5 A Prince and Real Life Stars * * * 1/2

In this complete story, we experience the rush of young love, wishes and then disappointment...things both the bright, smart teenaged people feel. Our gal, Brenna from North Carolina, is doing a gap year touring a foreign country which seems like paradise...There she meets a strapping young man who connects with her immediately, Ronnie Vi.

They spend the next 3 months doing everything together... traveling all over the islands; camping, hiking, swimming and loving ....loving all they do together....and loving each other freely. Then the months fly by; the summer is turning to fall.... and in an instant this miracle is over... Ronnie is not there one morning ...leaving our Brenna stunned and heartbroken.

We open this story 9 years later with Brenna forging a new PR company with her best friend since childhood, Willow. Both had been dealt blows with their relationships with men... Brenna still hurt from her experience with Ronnie and now the added burden of a marriage made up of lies and deceit by her thieving ex husband.... and Willow, who loved deeply only to be abandoned when she became pregnant. Both clung to each other supporting and being there. They left North Carolina and came to this little country where Brenna had her most special time...the place to restart and become happy again.

There are some things, though, Brenna hasn't shared with Willow. It seems once they relocated to Cornetta, Brenna discovered her Ronnie Vi wasn't just some gap student like her... No, he was the second prince; heir to the throne of this country! The shock was the first feeling.... but then others came and struck deeper...Had he been playing her all along...knowing she was "common" and had no future with him....As she set up her new business with Willow, she vowed to stay clear of the grown Prince... the beautiful playboy she saw in all the papers and media...There was no way they would cross path, even here... for his life was on a whole other level.

Ronnie...or Prince Ronan has never forgotten his time with Brenna...it weighs heavily on his heart. He had to make a split decision when his feelings for her first overcame him...and knew he would never tell this wonder who he really was.... To be with her...just around her and be in the moment without any of the "Have To's" ... to just be a man taken and in love with a woman as it should be... no agenda, no countries, no rules... just loving because you do...that was what he wanted to experience. Did he regret his leaving her without a goodbye.... everyday.

Brenna and Willow have been happy running their PR firm and have grown a name for themselves by picking and choosing only the most ethical and right projects. In PR it isn't who is your client which is the most telling... it is who you will not work with... who you will not sell your soul to.... to clean up their messes. An incident of a live mike happens to the Heir to the throne, Prince Emory... comments which need to be fixed for the good of his image and also involving the good of the country. Ronan knowing all about Brenna's company insists they reach out to her and have her handle the PR mess.

A summons from the castle arrives... Brenna is determined to be professional, polite and then say no....Does that happen when she is in the presence of the the Queen and her sons... Absolutely.
Does Ronan see what must be done...and take her aside to talk and share how critical it is she help the family and country...Yes he does...and do both of them feel the sparks and undercurrent between them...

Well, what do you think... Damn straight they do...and that is when this tale becomes complex and intriguing.

This is a shorty but full of content. We get the flavor of a modern day fairy tale with twitter, media and all it means in today's world. We see a country trying to hold on to their sacred place and keep what is special to them yet be in the 21st century. The pressure and responsibility to be Royal may seem ridiculous to "commoners" from afar... but if you can look at all which is part of the "job" description.... we understand more of the isolation and loneliness which may occur.

This was an engaging tale...people learn to just be and accept people for who they are... from both sides...the couple, Brenna and Ronan belonged together and I think Ms. Kathleen O'Brien has left a few hints for her next installment..... Prince Emory needs his own love story...

Brenna moved with her best friend to a place that has held a special place in her heart. They have built a reputation as the best PR group in Cornetta and they hate scandal even if Brenna has been part of scandal and would rather not have to ever face or deal with it again. Ronnie AKA Ranon has found Brenna again and he wants her like his last breath but know the first time they met he may have kept a few secrets from her and he's not sure how she will react once she finds out, well unless she already knows most of them, but when scandal rattles his family and he needs a PR firms help he thinks he as the best one in mind but he's really not sure if Brenna will help him. This book is a very short read , simple but fun pact with a lot of fun characters. The storyline is well written and it has you wanting to find out whats going to happen next. The story doesn't ever get boring or slow the author did an amazing job engaging the reader and leaving you wanting more to the las page. If you are looking for a fun read but something you can know out in a couple of hours then this book is for you and you won't regret it.

His Defiant Princess was such an unexpected delight. I genuinely adored the main characters and their second chance love story. The romance between Ronan and Brenna had all of the elements that I like - tension, chemistry, an untold conflict that prevented the two lovers from getting together and then the inevitable coming together when all things were made clear and unwavering love was professed. (Sigh) Everything was so brilliantly delivered that I found myself smiling and nodding my head after I read the last line from the book. Excellent!

I liked this short, sweet contemporary romance a lot! This book is the third in the loosely linked series Royal Holiday. It is about second chances. The hero, Ronan is a prince who plays polo and likes to go fishing. The heroine, Brenna is a American living in his country, because she does have fond memories of her gap year summer, with Ronan. When they meet, after years apart, she realizes "for the first time in nine years, she didn't automatically think of Ronan as 'her original mistake'."
I loved Ronan's struggle to be true to a promise he made his father before he died, a promise to "never marry a woman he wouldn't have been proud of." Finally Ronan realizes the correct interpretation and goes after Brenna. Yes!
I look forward to the next book in the Royal Holiday series, and I also hope the author will write for us Willow and Emory's stories as well. I did receive a complimentary copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

His Defiant Princess by Kathleen O'Brien took me on a modern day fairy tale adventure!

I loved Kathleen's descriptions of Cornetta and could very easily picture the small island and the royal residence.

The royal family is refreshingly modern and approachable which made me like the story even more. Despite having broken Brenna's heart all those years ago, I really liked Prince Ronan as a hero. I liked his story and how we got to know him so well as His Defiant Princess progressed. Even though His Defiant Princess if fiction, it really makes you think about the life royalty is obliged to lead. Ronan has never forgotten Brenna, but neither has he approached her, even with ample opportunity. He thinks she's moved on well past him. Brenna assumes Ronan is well over her too. But the sparks that threaten to ignite when they finally meet up again prove otherwise!

Ronan and Brenna think they can never have a happily ever after together...he's royalty and she's a commoner from the US with a secret of her own. I liked how they were together...a bit cautious, a bit hopeful, and a bit scared. Brenna is determined to keep her distance and be professional around Ronan, but this might be a lost cause! The only question is will she have her heart broken by him again?

I liked the mix Kathleen gives the plot. The royal family and the issues they are facing, Brenna and Ronan with their past and present together and apart, and a few other secondary characters that really spice up the plot! Kathleen blended it all well together and kept me entertained, hopeful, and envisioning princesses in my head.

For a well paced, sweet romantic read that will make your heart happy, I'd recommend His Defiant Princess.

Another sweet second chance romance stars. Brenna and Ronan spent an unforgettable summer years ago. But after the summer is over Ronan left, leaving Brenna with a broken heart. Unbeknownst to her, Ronan is actually a prince. Fast forward years later, they meet again after Brenna is hired by the royal family to smooth out a PR nightmare. Ronan wants to rekindle their romance. but Brenna is unsure whether she trusts him especially since she's not princess material at all.

Really enjoyed this novella. The writing was easy and the characters were likable. I enjoyed how they came together and how they worked out their differences. A fun, light, enjoyable read.

His Defiant Princess by Kathleen O’Brien is book three in the Royal Holiday series. I guess I must really have a thing for books about falling in love with a Royal because I am loving this series. The best part is meeting a new author with each novella and I am so glad to have been introduced to Kathleen O’Brien. I thought this book was so well written and enjoyable. In the short amount of pages, she managed to make us fall in love with these two main characters.

Brenna Tinley was from North Carolina. She was barely twenty years old when she met twenty one year old Ronnie Vee while exploring abroad. They spent three glorious months together back packing, sleeping in tents, and falling in love. Until one morning when Brenna woke up and Ronnie was gone.

Fast forward nine years. Brenna has moved to the beautiful United Isles of Cornetta with her friend and roommate, Willow, and they have started a public relations business. When they first moved here, you can understand her surprise when on the news she saw an older version of her young summer boyfriend, except that his name was really Prince Ronan Vicenza, second in line to the throne of Cornetta. It’s been five years since she came to this country and has vowed to never contact him. She just spends all her time building her new business.

“Prince Ronan was an entitled, manipulative, lying imposter who had seduced her as part of some summer charade.”

“She couldn’t deny it. That summer had been the happiest of her life.”

The Royal Vicenza family is in crisis. Ronan’s older brother Emory, otherwise known by Ronan as Emory the Exemplary, first in line for the throne, has made some very unsuitable comments thinking his microphone was turned off. Ronan just happens to know of a very good public relations expert. He knew Brenna had moved to Cornetta and had been quietly following her career. So Brenna is offered a deal she couldn’t say no to. This could be what really gets her business off the ground. The problem is, can her heart take being in the same room as Ronan?

“I didn’t hate you,” she said honestly. “Maybe I thought I did. But can you ever really hate a person you’ve truly loved?”

I loved this book. These are Royals of our age. They have to deal with paparazzi, nasty tweets from twitter followers, and all the other pitfalls of social media. Brenna has a challenge to fix this problem but at the same time, finds herself at the receiving end of some unsavory tweets as well. Even though Ronan broke her heart, we learn what really happened and I couldn’t help but to fall in love with him. This was a sweet, fast paced and just plain wonderful story. Haven’t we all dreamed of falling in love with a Prince at least once?

“Heaven help him, this might be wrong, but nothing in the past nine years had ever felt so right. She belonged here. His arms knew her, his mouth knew her, even his hungry heart knew her.”

When Brenna decided to move to the Unified Isles of Cornetta and start up a Public Relations firm with her friend, it was because of various reasons. One of which was to get far, far away from North Carolina and the disaster marriage she had to a man who scammed everyone. When she was summoned to the castle to help fix the mess that the oldest son had created, Brenna was not prepared to see the man who broke her heart 9 years earlier in the whirlwind summer romance. She had known him as Ronnie but in true life he was Prince Ronan, second in line to the throne. While he wanted to pick up where they left off, Brenna was not prepared for it at all. That was until she realized that he was truly her Prince Charming.

At first I was unsure of this book because it just seemed honestly weird. What person would go to a country and set up a business when she knew the man that broke her heart lived there. But the more I read, the more I enjoyed the book, right down to the ending. So I would definitely recommend this book to be read.

His Defiant Princess, a novella written by Kathleen O'Brien, is the third book in the multi-authored Royal Holiday series from Tule Publishing. This was a second chance royal romance between two strong-willed characters who met and fell in love over one summer and then meet again nine years later. A commoner and a member of royalty falling in love is nothing new, but what I loved about this book was the originality in both the story and the characters. Just when I think it's going in a particular direction, it surprises me!

The fact that Brenna knew that Ronnie was actually Prince Ronan and that Ronan knew Brenna was in Cornetta but neither of them did anything about the knowledge was something I wasn't expecting. There were also things that I thought were going to happen that didn't and yet I wasn't upset or disappointed. If anything, I appreciated being kept on my literary toes and His Defiant Princess was a book that defied expectation and one that is definitely worth reading. I'm giving this very pleasant surprise 4.5 stars! ♥

3.5 This novel is set in Cornetta, a tiny kingdom on the Bay of Biscay. There is a lot of action in this short story, including a second chance at love.

Brenna Tindley and Willow Arden run a public relations business. A few years ago to escape a very difficult time in Brenna's life, they left Raleigh, North Carolina and flew to Cornetta. It was a beautiful little island that Brenna visited several years ago, and couldn't forget. Willow was pregnant at the time, the baby's father out of the picture, so she was very willing to escape from Raleigh. Brenna is the public face of their firm, Willow the researcher and handles logistics and details. They work very well together. The Royal Family is the Vicenza's. Queen Esme, two son's Emory who is the heir apparent, and Ronan. Ronan has the reputation of a ladies man, although he feels the press exaggerates some of his exploits.

Emory, thinking his microphone is turned off, makes a very controversial statement at a gathering, which immediately goes viral. His reputation is going to be ruined. Ronan suggests contacting the PR team of Tindley-Arden to try and hopefully turn the terrible press around. Nine years ago, he met Brenna while she was touring before college, he had just graduated from college. They spent three carefree months together, Brenna only knowing him as Ron Vee and falling hard for him. One day, he was gone. Only recently did she find out Ron, was Ronan of the Royal family. Her life had taken many turns since that amazing summer, she saw no chance of going back.

This is a very enjoyable read, my only disappointment was that it was so short. There was a lot of story lines going in, and some felt rushed. This is the first novel I have read by Ms. O'Brien, but I will be looking for more.

I received this ARC from Tule Publishing and Netgalley for an honest review. Pat Fordyce

Book Review: His Defiant Princess by Kathleen O'Brien

Book 3 of the Royal Holiday, “His Defiant Princess” by Kathleen O'Brien introduces readers to the Unified Isles of Cornetta, a small kingdom located at the Sea of Biscay in the south of France.

Usually very quiet and tranquil, the whom kingdom was shocked early morning when Crown Prince Emory had a diarrhea of the mouth and caused the biggest scandal the Royal House of Vicenza ever had.

Enter American Brenna Tinley, owner of a boutique PR firm and considered one of the best in the kingdom. If ever there was someone who can clear up the mess, it will be Brenna. There is only one problem though. The “spare” Prince Ronan and Brenna had a past and working for the Palace is very low on her priority list.

Written like a fairy tale, “His Defiant Princess” is a story of second chances in more ways than one. Short, concise and very sweet, author Kathleen O'Brien successfully created three-dimensional characters beginning with the protagonists – Brenna and Ronan, to the supporting cast – the Queen, Prince Emory, Brenna’s business partner all the way to the wicked witch of social media in Cornetta.

“His Defiant Princess” is a novella; when I reached the end, I wished that it was a full length novel. I really would have liked to the background stories about everyone. Ms. O’Brien wrote all the characters to be very interesting no matter how small their part were.

“His Defiant Princess” is Rated T for Teens.

This is book 3 in the Royal Holiday Series and let me start my saying....I LOVE this series. Each is a stand alone story so don't feel that you have to have read the others in the series prior to this one. This is the story of Brenna and Ronan and their second chance at finding each other. It is an sweet emotional story that will leave you feeling good after you've read it. I have truly enjoyed this series thus far and look forward to reading more. Each book has been written by a different author and I must say that they have all been really good. I have read other books by Kathleen O'Brien and I enjoy her writing style. If you are looking for a relatively quick read (these are novella length stories) try this series out. You can start with this one...I think it is my favorite thus far!

This is book three in the Royal Holiday series. Each novella has been written by a different author, which I really like. It gives you a chance to experience the writing styles of various authors, and the series does not get redundant. Each book has a fresh voice and is unique. I really enjoyed HIS DEFIANT PRINCESS by Kathleen O’Brien. She fleshed out the characters in a short amount of time, and kept me captivated from beginning to end.

Brenna Tinley has never forgotten the summer she spent on the Unified Isles of Cornetta, just south of France. She met a handsome, wonderful man that summer and she has never forgotten him. He disappeared when autumn came, and she didn’t even get to say goodbye. She has decided to return there to escape the recent tragedies in her personal life. She can’t think of a better place to seek solace and start a new business – a public relations firm, with her best friend, Willow.

The Royal House of Vicenza had asked Brenna to clear up a public relations mess for them. What an opportunity! She is thrilled, until she finds that her new employer is none other the HRH Prince Ronan – who also happens to be her mystery summer boyfriend of years ago. He seems to be thrilled with the chance to reunite with her and to pick up where they left off. Brenna is trying to figure out how to make the situation work without a brand new broken heart…something she definitely does not need. She DOES need the job to really establish her firm. What to do?

There is way too much going on with this story to talk about in a review. I have to say that it is all interesting and makes this a fast-paced, wonderful and riveting read. You do NOT want to miss this excellent addition to the Royal Holiday series. My bet is that you will love it as much as I did. I’m looking forward to reading more from Kathleen O’Brien.

I can't thank Sharon Slick Reads enough for finding these wonderful, light, fun-filled books about modern day prince and princesses for me to read. They seem to be coming at me just when I have had my fill of other genre's and need something to bring me from a dark place and into the light. His Defiant Princess did just that.

The past and the future highlighted this wonderful book about a Prince who is known for his wild side and the woman that has held his heart for nine long years. And, about a woman who fell totally in love at 19 only to have him just disappear in the middle of the night and not to be heard from for nine long years. Yes, I think you know where this one is going. But, getting there is only half the fun ... when you arrive, it's even better than you thought it would be.

Brenna started her life over as her now ex-husband ruined what she had been building. Her partner, Willow and her daughter Maisie are what drives her to make the best of her PR firm in Cornetta. She'll only take on clients that are ethical and refuses anyone who she feels she cannot represent honestly. When the summons comes from the palace to represent Prince Emory Vicenza after a faux-pas that has the country reeling, she knows that her past and her present are about to collide.

The Rogue Prince Ronan Vicenza knows that bringing Brenna to the palace is the wrong thing to do. But, he can't help himself and really needs to help his brother overcome his remarks about unwed mothers. They needed the best PR firm and he knew that Brenna was the one to do this. But, in convincing her to take the job, he also has to agree to let her have a go on his image as well. Will they both be able to survive the close quarters, working together, the memories of their time together on the Isle of Green or the forbidden love that they shared.

A promise made in the past, living up to a ghosts expectations and fighting his attraction to Brenna has Ronan frustrated and angry. Hiding her ex-husband's exploitation of prior clients and her past with Ronnie Vee has Brenna on edge and worried. But, the threat of a journalist, facing the feelings that they both have for each other and an understanding Queen gives both of them the future that neither of them dreamed that they could have.

I love these little modern-day royalty stories. Yea, it will never happen to you or me but it's nice to think that someone just may find the prince or princess that completes them. Maybe it's the Kate and William syndrome or everyone's infatuation with Diana in the past but, they are very heart warming. Kathleen O'Brien brought a beautiful place to life. With descriptions of Cornetta and the Isle of Green, you felt that you were there ... could hear and feel the waterfalls, the hustle and bustle of the castle. Her characters were life-like with true life problems ... some of the celebrity kind and some of the commoner kind, and brought to life with flare. Written with a conscious thought to the plight of the unwed mother and having to live with past mistakes, I thoroughly enjoyed His Defiant Princess and really look forward to more from this genre.

Nine years ago, Brenna Tinley met and fell in love with a fellow backpacker, Ronnie Vi. They had a wonderful three months together, then he disappeared from her life without saying goodbye. Broken hearted and on the rebound from that romance she married Mark, who turned out to be a con artist, embezzling money from family and friends and now spending time in jail to pay for his crimes.

Brenna decided to move herself and her PR business, complete with her best friend and single Mum, Willow, to the Unified Isles of Cornetta where she’d had her holiday romance, never dreaming she’d meet her summer lover again. When the Royal House of Vicenza engages her to help them create a better image for HRH Crown Prince Emory, she finds her summer lover again – his brother, HRH Prince Ronan. The sparks fly, the chemistry is still there but so are the reasons why they shouldn’t rekindle their love. Can she work with the royal family without ending up with her heart broken again?

Another great second chance romance, an excellent read with complex characters and a strong plot – I highly recommend it! I also really hope that a sequel is in the pipeline for Prince Emory and, hopefully, Willow! You really don’t need to enjoy other books in this series to enjoy this one, but they’ve all been great so are well worth taking a look at!

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too,

Brenna Tinley and Ronnie Vee are in love and the 3 months they've spent together hiking and sleeping under the stars of Cornetta have been the best of their lives but then one day Ronnie just leaves her sleeping and she never hears from him again. Many years later Brenna moves to Cornetta where she discovers that her Ronnie is actually HRH Prince Ronan, second to the throne of Cornetta. But after 9 years apart he is reaching out to her and asking for the help of her PR company for his family, the royal family of Cornetta.
Her heart was once broken by him and she has paid for the mistakes that she made after he left her. Can she spend 2 weeks with him and still survive? Or will her time between their 2 meetings drive them further apart?
A lovely story about a strong independent woman facing the odds on her own and of love once lost being found again.

His Defiant Princess delivers a nice balance of quirky tongue in cheek fun and tender romance. This book is beautifully written and flows well from beginning to end. The story contained enough twists and turns to keep things interesting and though I was busy with other things I found myself stealing back to read a few more pages whenever I could. I liked all the main characters. I liked the chemistry that inevitably built between Ronan and Brenna, and their efforts to push it aside. I liked the stiff formality of Emory and the quiet elegance of Queen Esme. I would happily have read this book in a few hours. It is perfect for a quick weekend read. Light, fast paced and well structured it will leave you feeling good and wondering if there is a sequel.

I loved this book and would recommend my only wish is that we could have learned how everyone else in the story felt about the ending.

His Defiant Princess is the third book in the Royal Holiday series and I think it was a good addition to the series. Breanna Tinsley was strong and stood by her convictions. I loved that she wouldn't represent clients that she believed were guilty, despite how much money she was offered. It showed her morals and determination to put her past behind her. Prince Ronan met Breanna 9 years ago and pretended to be someone else. He broke her heart when he left without a word in the middle of the night, so when he needs Breanna to help rebuild his brother's reputation after a few careless words, he has a fight to get her to say yes. Neither one of them looks at the business relationship as a second chance for them, but it definitely was. This story kept me interested from the beginning and I enjoyed watching the characters interact on all levels. The ending had me laughing out loud and definitely left me with a big smile on my face. I give this book 4.5 stars along with a definite reread rating.

His Defiant Princess is book #3 in the Royal Holiday series and it was another good book in the series.

I enjoyed reading about Brenna and prince Ronan.

Brenna moved to the Unified Isles of Cornetta to escape the recent tragedies in her personal life but when she moved there she was shocked to discover that the man she spent her happiest summer of her life before he disappeared without a goodbye is Prince Ronan.

When the Royal House of Vicenza has engaged Brenna Tinley to clear up a public relations mess she find herself facing prince Ronan for the first time since he left her all this years ago.

Can Brenna put the past behind her and do her job without losing her heart to prince Ronan again?

Ronan is very attracted to Brenna but he made a promise to his dad when he was dying that he will marry a princess or someone with royal blood so he's trying to fight his attraction to Brenna because he knows they can't have a future together.

I enjoyed reading about Brenna and Ronan, Brenna is a strong woman that is giving 110% of herself in order to help Ronan's brother, the crown prince to gain the trust and forgiveness of his people after a PR mess.

As much as the media is trying to paint Ronan as a playboy he truly cares about Brenna but he just can't see a way for them to be together.

His Defiant Princess is a good novella, sexy and full of emotions.

His Defiant Princess is book 3 of the Royal Holiday series. I've really enjoyed the series so far, and it's unique because each book is written by a different author.

This was such a sweet second chance romance! We have Brenna, a girl from North Carolina who is taking a year to travel the foreign country of Cornetta. While she is there she meet Ronnie Vi, and the chemistry is instant. They spend the summer traveling, exporing and falling in love. Then suddenly Ronnie just disappears. Brenna is left heartbroken.

9 years pass and Brenna is back in Cornetta, and she is building a PR company with her childhood best friend. She is recovering from a marriage gone wrong, and she has still never gotten over Ronnie, but she is excited to start over again.

After coming back to Cornetta, Brenna discovers the true identity of Ronnie Vi... he turned out to be a prince. This discovery has left her shocked, and determined to stay away from him. Ronnie however, has never forgotten his time with her and regrets leaving her without saying goodbye. Brenna and her friend are summoned to the castle and asked to take on Prince Emory as a client for their PR company. Obvious sparks fly between Brenna and her prince when they see each other. There are some ups and downs, but it's a fun journey to the happily ever after.

Overall, I enjoyed this love story. I thought it was a great modern day fairytale, and I look forward to reading more from the author and this series.

Completely enamored with this series. I cannot get enough of this series. I inhale them every time I see one. In His Defiant Princess, which I received an early copy from Netgalley for review, Brenna is partner in a public relations firm she located on the Unified Isles of Cornetta. She is unaware that the prince, Ronan, is her long ago boyfriend for a summer when she visited the Isles as a student. The island is in a bit of political upheaval and in need of someone in her line of work. Brenna agrees to help and takes the contract and we learn what happened between Brenna and Prince Ronan during their summer together.

Prince Ronan has been aware of Brenna all of this time and has stayed out of her way for personal reasons. We also learn more about how and why Brenna ended up on the Isles of Cornetta despite being from the U.S. where she had a very close relationship with her father. His Defiant Princess shows how much misunderstandings and lack of communication can effect a situation. I would love to have known more about what happened with Brenna's business partner and her family but, maybe we will get a follow-up in a short story.

(Thank you to Kathleen O’Brien, Tule Publishing, and NetGalley for an opportunity to read an ARC for an honest review.)

His Defiant Princess by Kathleen O’Brien is book 3 in the Royal Holiday series. Like the previous book in the series (Her Secret Prince by Madeline Ash), this story is about second chance at love and a reunion between a royal and his love. Brenna and Ronan met one summer and fell in love, but ended when Ronan left. They are not reunited until 9 years later, when the Royal House of Vicenza hires Brenna to help clear up their public relations issue.

This being the second book in the Royal Holiday series that I’ve read, I must admit that I did like the second book a bit more. I felt there was a lot more telling than showing in this book. For example, I would really have liked to be shown more of Brenna and Ronan’s summer together.

What I did enjoy about this book though was the writing of Kathleen O’Brien. The novel flowed well and I loved the secondary characters of Esme, Willow and Emory.

Overall, this a book I’d recommend to read and enjoy.

This was a nice way to spend a few hours. I really liked Brenna. She was smart, strong, and very firm in her beliefs. Ronan came off a little immature at first with his devil May care attitude. He eventually showed his true self and I warmed up to him.

I am in love with this series, and even more so with this particular installation. The Author managed to create very three-dimensional characters, despite the fact that the setting and occurrences are rather unlikely to occur, grounded them in a sense of reality. Very charming book, I highly recommend.

I can’t thank Sharon Slick Reads enough for finding these wonderful, light, fun-filled books about modern day prince and princesses for me to read. They seem to be coming at me just when I have had my fill of other genre’s and need something to bring me from a dark place and into the light.
But, getting there is only half the fun … when you arrive, it’s even better than you thought it would be.
Brenna started her life over as her now ex-husband ruined what she had been building. Her partner, Willow and her daughter Maisie are what drives her to make the best of her PR firm in Cornetta. She’ll only take on clients that are ethical and refuses anyone who she feels she cannot represent honestly. When the summons comes from the palace to represent Prince Emory Vicenza after a faux-pas that has the country reeling, she knows that her past and her present are about to collide.
The Rogue Prince Ronan Vicenza knows that bringing Brenna to the palace is the wrong thing to do. But, he can’t help himself and really needs to help his brother overcome his remarks about unwed mothers.
Hiding her ex-husband’s exploitation of prior clients and her past with Ronnie Vee has Brenna on edge and worried. But, the threat of a journalist, facing the feelings that they both have for each other and an understanding Queen gives both of them the future that neither of them dreamed that they could have.
I love these little modern-day royalty stories. Yea, it will never happen to you or me but it’s nice to think that someone just may find the prince or princess that completes them. Maybe it’s the Kate and William syndrome or everyone’s infatuation with Diana in the past but, they are very heart warming. Kathleen O’Brien brought a beautiful place to life. With descriptions of Cornetta and the Isle of Green, you felt that you were there … could hear and feel the waterfalls, the hustle and bustle of the castle. Her characters were life-like with true life problems … some of the celebrity kind and some of the commoner kind, and brought to life with flare. Written with a conscious thought to the plight of the unwed mother and having to live with past mistakes, I thoroughly enjoyed His Defiant Princess and really look forward to more from this genre.

I think this might be my favorite in the royal fairy tale series. Because it was somehow the most realistic, with the modern day challenges of the internet and twitter to spread the rumors so fast, hashtag problems, and trending fears. Maybe it is because I currently live in a country where we actually have a Royal family, and years ago, with my former job, I was actually privileged to work events, where the protocol and etiquette was required, so it was easy for me to relate to some of the things happening in the story. The requirements, formalities, customs, and code is not easy to assimilate. Brenna felt the push and pull of the different situations, and grasp it fast. I loved how she stood up for herself, kept her chin up, and didn't let people or situations roll over her. Brenna was really easy to like, to cheer for, and wish her happily ever after. Ronan was so loyal, knew his responsibility, and stood by his family. He was realistic, honest, and genuine. Together they were explosive, hot, and yet at the same time so sweet. There's a scene in the 'cottage' during the dinner, where he tells Brenna, what he knows about her, that was one of my favorite scenes. So telling about their feelings, history, and perception. This is a lovely modern day fairy tale, that made me smile, held my interest throughout the story, and made me admire and cheer for the characters. Lovely indeed

A real modern-day fairy tale, about a woman hurt from her first marriage, had an unforgettable summer with a prince and reuniting again after almost a decade. Sparks flew again, intense feelings re-explored, and a whole new kind of love blossomed. This is the kind of royal family story I’d love to read over and over again.

Breanna was a strong character, there’s something about her that appealed to me. Her dedication to her work and daughter was admirable. Prince Ronan, on the other hand, reminded me of Prince Harry because of his wild side and kind heart. Plus, there’s the onslaught of social media interaction between the characters, thus making this love story more believable and realistic. Together they weaved a second-chance kind of love that would surely melt the heart of readers, commoners and royalties alike.

I think, this is by far my favorite among the Royal Holiday stories and I couldn’t ask for more!

I'm enjoying the Royal Holiday series but the third in the series, His Defiant Princess, is my new favorite. I enjoyed everything about Brenna and Ronan's story. I was hooked from the first page and didn't put it down until I reached the last page. I appreciated that they shared a history but wasn't quite sure if the other remembered their past time together.

I can't wait to see what the next book in the series will bring.

Nine years ago, Brenna Tinley spent an amazing three months backpacking in Cornetta with Ronnie. When he disappeared in the middle of the night, he broke her heart and returned home. Now, after some bad decisions, she and her best friend have started over in Cornetta, building a respected Public Relations firm. When the Crown Prince makes a comment that he shouldn't have, Prince Ronan Vicenza knows who to call.
When Brenna and Ronan meet again, it is obvious that neither has gotten over the other. Brenna is determined to do her job, despite her feelings. As earns the respect of both the Queen and the Crown Prince, will it be enough to weather the storm of her past for a future with Ronan?
Though a novella and a quick read, the characters and the story are well-developed. The pacing was appropriate, and the secondary characters also added fun and interest. Overall, a very enjoyable read.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Tule Publishing, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is an author that i have not read before and was pleasantly surprised.

The only thing that really pulled this book down for me is that it did not have an epilogue to finish a little while later as i really wanted to know a little more about them.

Brenna is a hard working woman who has loved and lost in the fact that the man ran off, and she has made one bad decision which comes back to pinch her in the butt.

Ronan is the rogue Prince, however he is there and supportive when he needs to. Ronan has also never forgotten about the girl that he spent three months with and thinks that he will never end up married.

I loved all of the characters and hope that Willow and Emory get a book either together or eaters they too need their stories told.
