Description

It’s the summer of 1967, and fourteen year-old Vanessa is chagrined to be sent to stay for two-weeks with cousins she barely knows in rural Fishers, Indiana. Once settled in, however, she learns that country life offers unexpected adventures, starting with a legend about a Civil War-era ghost stalking the area, a creepy character living down by the creek, and a mysterious abandoned house that she and the other kids can’t resist. She also learns about courage and commitment to those she loves, as well as the joys of her first, innocent summer romance.

Author Bio:

Madalyn Kinsey was raised in Indianapolis, and made her first attempt at writing a novel at age five on the family's manual Royal typewriter. Searching for inspiration for a book she could commit herself to completing, she remembered her frequent childhood visits with her extended family on the family farm near Fishers, Indiana. Those fond memories inspired the story in The Ghost of Cheeney Creek. The abandoned Civil War-era graveyard located only steps from the farm house, dank farm outbuildings, and a mysterious creek running through the property, made her real-life visits fascinating and full of adventure. She is hard at work finishing the sequel to The Ghost of Cheeney Creek that will take her main character, Vanessa, her cousins, and their friend, Jim, on new and different adventures. When not writing, Madalyn practices corporate law with an Indianapolis law firm, and has practiced law in Chicago and San Francisco.

In the summer of 1967, Vanessa is sent to rural Indiana to spend the summer with two cousins she barely knows. Looks like it’s going to be a long, boring summer vacation. But hang on, this little corner of Indiana has lots going on, including a spooky abandoned house, a weirdo living down by the creek and a creepy Civil War ghost story. It’s also got a pretty cute guy that 14-year-old Vanessa has her eye on.
