I liked and enjoyed this book. The story line was very captivating and I just good not put this book down. I really liked the way the characters interacted with each other and there story. There was definitely a lot of emotion in this book but the good kind. Really looking forward to the rest of the series.

4 1/2 stars

It was a beautiful story, emotional and heart wrenching at the same time.
I loved both the main characters and the secondary ones, Elijah is now in top 10 book boyfriends for me and Alex, our heroine, well she's a little naive at times but has such a big heart that it impossible to not love her or want to hug the hell out of her.
They both went through horrible and painful experiences, lost love ones and still had the power to get up every morning and move on with their lives. Dear God, I heated Liam , he was an idiot, I did a little happy dance when they broke up. The only complaining I have is that we didn't get to see El and Alex dating more, they kinda jumped into the hole "I love you and can't live without you" thing. I mean I understand why but still felt a little rushed...or maybe it just me.
I did however love it and I will definitely re-read it.
I recommend to everyone who wants a beautiful love story with realistic characters and not a lot of drama, sure the book deals with pain and lost but there wasn't unnecessary drama to complicate things.

I received a copy of this book from NETGALLEY in exchange for an honest review!

Copy courtesy of Netgalley Nice easy read with very little angst. HEA with a short epilogue My Clarity is a story of letting go and moving on. Alex and Elijah both loss people close to them. Alex held on to her image of her father. She was a daddy's girl and he adored her. She was his "sunshine". She started college dating her hometown boyfriend. He wasn't the best boyfriend. I think she held as long as she did because it was a reminder of home. They were "together " about half of the book. Elijah loss his brother and mother. He took a year off from school to get back on track. He also had a bad relationship in his past, he was a little gun shy of relationships. When they meet, the attraction is there, but they don't act because of Alex's boyfriend. Once everything is figured out the romance takes off at warp speed. It was very sweet and you fall in love with Elijah even more. You really see his romantic side. Very enjoyable.

In this book we follow Alex as she starts college after losing her father and finds a way to do that with new friends and her new roommate, Elijah. Elijah has his own demons that he has to deal with but when he meets Alex he finds that he wants to do that.

I really liked the theme of music and how it played a role in the story. It was used as a link to connect Elijah and Alex.

Clarke did a good job at developing the other characters (which are going to be used in the rest of the series). A lot of times the secondary characters get overlooked and fade to.the background.

What kept me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that it's a kind of story I've heard before. The whole bad boy changes his way for the good girl. There wasn't any kind of "moment" that led him to change. He just up and decides to change one he meets her. I would have liked to have seen more with that aspect. Also, once they get together the story just rushes through to the end.

It is a quick and nice story that begins a new series. Elijah and Alex are just two.lost soul who have experienced heartbreak. They fall in love and have that love build them back up.
