Description

Billionaire heiress Emma Devaroux has been living a safe-yet-mundane existence in Georgia for too long, but when she learns her sister, Joslyn, has been arrested, she heads to New York City to find out what really happened. Unfortunately, as an unemployed debutante, she’s not exactly qualified to be leading an investigation. But help is at hand in the form of the handsome, former military man Jace Lance who happens to be the one who got her sister arrested in the first place.

Jace thinks Emma is crazy for even considering working with him since he’s the one who stopped Joslyn from killing his former client. However, he can’t deny that the sexy southerner is in over her head when her tycoon cousins try to hire him to make sure Emma doesn’t find out the truth about what really caused her sister’s murderous actions.

As they begin to uncover the truth together –and get to know each other intimately – it becomes clear that the more answers they get, the more danger Emma is in. Jace is determined to protect her, but how can he keep her safe when her whole family is in on the conspiracy?

Another kickass female lead I love it! Emma is sister with Joslyn the crazy biatch in the third book. She thinks that it her fault that her sister land in the looney bin. I think that in her mind she thought she could save her sister. Emma to find Victoria Green, but with no luck she didn't find her. She meets Jace Victoria's bodyguard. They meet and Emma introduces her self to him. Automatically he knows to keep her away from the Green family. Emma really had no idea how bad of a seed Joslyn was. I still can't believe how she can be so cruel to her. I like the chemistry between them we get to see both of their backstories. Why Jace is the way that he is and why he is so good and well connected in his job. Thank you to the author for giving the opportunity to review this series.

I really enjoyed Jace and Emma's story. We met Jace as Victoria's bodyguard in book three and Emma is the sister of Joslyn from book three. I liked both the main characters in this book and that isn't something I can always say. The story was well paced and it really held my interest. Jace and Emma had great chemistry. This is a great addition to the series and I look forward to the next one.

As a reader unfamiliar with the Billionaires in the City series I was worried that not reading the previous installments would detract from my enjoyment of this story. I'm happy to report though that this is a fun and flirty read with a nice bit of suspense that can definitely stand on its own.

In the aftermath of Joslyn Devaroux's attempted murder of wealthy businesswoman Victoria Green, heiress Emma Devaroux and security specialist Jace Lance are brought together under a veil of deceit that could destroy their burgeoning relationship before it's barely begun. Throw in a bit of suspense courtesy of the machinations of Emma's sister Joslyn and her hired thug David and you have the impetus that binds Jace and Emma together despite her anger at his perceived betrayal. Told in alternating POVs readers are given a glimpse into both of the main character's lives which had me finding them likable and enjoying their increasingly steamy romance.

Emma could've lived up to the stereotype of the snobby rich girl but she was anything but. She was determined and strong-willed and gave as good as she got when it came to Jace. With his military background Jace was a loyal man, torn between his initial duty to Victoria and later on to Emma's cousins. Ultimately, as his feelings for Emma grew deeper, he became her champion protecting her from Joslyn's manipulations. Jace and Emma might've started off adversaries but with the danger increasing their interactions became crackling with fun and flirty banter leading to steamy interludes.

Overall this was an entertaining story with appealing characters that made for an engaging and suspenseful tale from start to finish. Though there were some plot holes, some silly choices made by characters, and a few unanswered questions at the end, Ms. Crowe's writing style fully immersed me in the story and pulled me along every step of the way. Readers looking for a sexy read with a bit of intrigue will want to add this to their bookshelf.

TRUSTING THE BOSS is the fourth installment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary, adult Billionaires in the City romance series. This is billionaire heiress Emma Devaroux, and security specialist/former SEAL Jace Lance’s storyline. TRUSTING THE BOSS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storyline is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives TRUSTING THE BOSS focuses on the aftermath of the attempted murder of billionaire businesswoman Victoria Green. Emma Devaroux’s sister Joslyn has been arrested and is awaiting trial in New York, and Emma is determined to uncover the truth about her sister’s psychotic motives. When Emma is unable to get an appointment with Victoria Green, Emma finds herself hiring the man who was witness to the attempt and the events leading to her sister’s breakdown, in the weeks before. Jace is caught between a rock and hard place, when Emma’s cousins hire Jace to keep Emma from uncovering the entire story.

The relationship between Emma and Jace begins acrimoniously. Jace was Victoria Green’s bodyguard, and in this he considers his current dilemma an act of betrayal against his former client. But Emma wants information about her sister’s secret life, and Jace has the connections and mindset to get the job done- but Jace is also working for her cousins, and when found out, his betrayal and deceit will break Emma’s heart. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and hot.

The secondary characters include Emma’s cousins Michael and Luke, who currently own and operate DevX-a billionaire dollar enterprise that provides cyber protection software to some of the largest defense companies in the world. We are also (re)introduced to FBI agent Evelyn Price whose involvement in the investigation reveals little to no information to the reader. The requisite evil comes in the form of Joslyn Devaroux-herself- as she continues to manipulate the family (behind the scenes) ; and David-a man who has been hired to get information from Emma that she knows nothing about.

TRUSTING THE BOSS is a fast paced story of betrayal, romance and suspense. The central characters are charismatic and determined; the premise engaging and captivating; the romance, not without some steamy bedroom moments. Mallory Crowe’s BILLIONAIRES IN THE CITY is an entertaining and pleasurable series but there are always some questions that have yet to be answered.

I give Emma and Jace 4 1/2 stars. Emma wasn't the normal standoffish rich girl and that was refreshing. Jace was loyal and felt deeply about not letting his actions betray his boss. The sexy times were toasty, the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, the story was well paced and the writing kept me turning the pages. I look forward to Ms. Crowe's next release.

5 Stars!

Another hit by this author in this really sweet and sexy series. I enjoyed this book. Let's be honest . . . we all love the classic billionaire romance where you can start reading and get swept off of your feet into a world of high class and fine dining. This book was definitely that stereotype but had a few twists to keep you on your toes along the way.

This book was really good. It was sweet, sexy, suspenseful, funny, and had a few twists and turns along the way. This book may just be my favorite in this series to date. I devoured this book in one sitting and can't wait for the next book in this series. This is a new-ish author to me but has been added to my future TBR lists for sure and one I keep coming back too.

This is Emma and Jace's story. Spinning from book three in this series, we meet Emma. Emma has come for answers and Jace is just the man to help her even if he is at the center of it and a bit reluctant to help her. Jace and Emma have a crazy instant connection, despite the differences and obstacles in their way. It won't be easy. Hearts will break and betrayals will happen. Will Emma and Jace be able to find a happy ending despite it all?

I highly recommend this book.

Emma has come to New York to try to figure out why her sister tried to kill someone. She's staying with her cousins who want her to let it be. She meets Jace, a security guard for the woman her sister tried to kill, by accident when her scarf blows away and gets tangled with his feet. When Emma finds out he works for a security company, she asks for his card and maybe his help. Jace has no plans to help Emma with her crazy sister but when she states she'll dig around his former employer, he agrees to help to control what damage she might do. This was an enjoyable read and my first billionaire in the city book.

a quick easy read. I liked the turn around, it's usually the man that's the billionaire.

In this fourth book of the Billionaires In The City series, this is the story of Emma Deveraux and Jace Lance. In book 3 Emma's sister, Joclyn, is the one who tried to kill Victoria Green. Now all Emma wants is to find out why her sister wanted to kill her. What happened that horrible day? Everyone seems to be working against her but the truth is a very dangerous thing and she'll need Jace to protect her.

I enjoyed this book. I would have liked some sort of explanation at the end. The reasons for the blackmail and who was being blackmailed. Mallory Crowe is an amazing author and I can't wait to read more from her.

Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

This is the fourth book in the series and the first that I have read. This book was fun to read and can be a stand-alone book in my opinion.
After the attempted murder of wealthy businesswomen Victoria Green by the hands of Joslyn Devaroux, heiress Emma Devaroux and security specialist Jace Lance are brought together under deceit that can destroy their relationship before it even has time to start. Emma wants to uncover the truth about her sister’s motives and with dead ends, she ends up hiring the man who witness the attempt. Jace was Mrs. Green’s bodyguard and is hired by Emma’s cousin to prevent her from finding out the truth. Jace is stuck with what he should do. Their relationship starts out strained. Jace feels he is betraying his past employer but has the connections to help Emma. Then there is Emma’s cousin that has hired him to through off Emma. Emma is strong willed and can dish out just as good as Jace. As time goes on and the danger increases, their feelings grow.
This story is full of suspense and intrigue. I love the playful flirty banter between them. The characters are well written and the story will keep you engaged from start to finish. I did have a few questions at the end but still an amazing read. I look forward to the next book by Ms. Crown’s.
