I just finished The Wycherleys by Annaliese Avery and I have to say I am devastated that I do not have the next book in my hand right now! This book won't even be released till August 26th, 2025!

It is an emenies to lovers, star-crossed lovers fantasy romance with an incredibly absorbing mystery storyline.

Aurelia's magic is cursed and she will never be able to tether which means she will loose her magic.

The daughter of the Nightly's, a rival family, lost her power because the witch she was to be tethered to for love changed his mind at the last minute.

Her brother, Jules, and Aurelia try to find a way for the two of them to keep their magic without being tethered. Which was possible in ages past but no longer.

They look into the curse and end up finding out more than they bargained for.

It was so good full of twists and romantic gestures that had me screaming out loud. There was no spice though as this seems to be a PG13 kind of series, but it was alluded to for the future. So who knows? Well, Annaliese Avery, probably.

It is 100% worth reading, I promise you will enjoy it!

I was able to read this thanks to Simon and Schuster Au and Netgalley. Even though I was given the opportunity to read this it's still my honest opinion.
The cover is what grabbed me at first, then the title and the. I read the synopsis and I was like yes, please Netgalley gods give me the luck to be granted a chance to read this!

I absolutely enjoyed this book! It was such a fun take on witches, witchcraft and the magical world and non-magical world. I LOVED THE DEBUTANTE part it was a welcomed additional twist especially with how they got their magic, the pairing system( I won't go into it, because I don't want to spoil anything.) as well as the old magic vs new magic and THE COVEN SYSTEMS!!! I WAS OBSESSED (I have had the big for witchy everything since childhood thanks to the boy with a lightning scar.) The only thing I wish was done a bit better, or more involved in the book was a fuller explanation of the magic systems. I want to know the ins and outs and all the in-betweens. I am that girl. I liked the secrets and the mystery of the stuff I won't say cause spoilers.

It was fast paced, it seemed a little too fast, and wished as I said more time in the magical aspects of it all. Though that is a very minor flaw, the ending hopefully left it open for a book two and perhaps she can explain more of the magic systems and magical worlds and the different covens. I am glad about the romancey but it wasn't the whole story it was a subplot. I liked it was character driven and Aurelia's arc meshed well the the plot and even though there was a couple of side plots, it all blended well and wasn't convoluted which was great. I wish there was a bit more world (magical bit) building.

I really enjoyed the characters and their development. I love the sort of Romeo and Juliet, meets Worst Witch and a sprinkling of the boy with a lightning scar in there and I was so here for it. I wish I was lucky enough for a physical arc of this from Simon and Schuster, I need it for my shelf now. Well done to Avery and her spin on Magic, hope to read more about Aurelia and Jules and all the covens! I definitely recommend for all ages from YA to Adult was a cute fun read.

A swoon-worthy, witchy romantic fantasy, perfect for fans of Twin Crowns, Divine Rivals and Stephanie Garber. Aurelia Wycherley is unfortunately blessed with a cursed magic - dark and dangerous. A magic her peers do not want to match with. But without a match, she will lose her magic entirely. Her only hope may be Jules Nightly, a member of an arch enemy family, who is investigating a way a witch can keep their magic without tethering to another. However there are dark forces at play that may threaten the very world they live in.

The Wycherleys is such a fun take on magic and witches, with new magic v old magic, covens and mysteries. We follow Aurelia and Jules who are trying to find a way to keep their magic, untethered from another, which was possible in years past but no longer.

This was really fun! Kind of Bridgerton with magic and curses.

Thank you to Simon & Schuster for an e-arc, all opinions are my own.
