I was very positively surprised by this book and so happy that I have it and can start my day with it now.
I own and have looked quite a few different books that have daily passages to read over the last few years, but never found one that was quite as nice as this one. I have some religious and some non-religious daily books, mostly because I was not sure if the religious ones were just too much for me and that is why I did not enjoy them as much.
This is one of the first religious book that I have seen that do not have personal anecdotes of the authors in the daily reading section and I love that. And it has shown me that I am actually really someone that enjoys starting her day out with a little spiritual guidance and devotion.
I found that especially in religious daily devotional books the authors can become rather nagging –at least that is what it always felt like to me after a few days of reading from the same book- about what they did wrong and what the reader should completely avoid doing, or what the never done and nobody should even think about doing and what the bible says about it.
This book has a daily bible quote and a little passage written under it that might explain the bible quote a little, or “just” talks about it a bit. Maybe point out what god might want you to do, or think about. Or sometimes it is just a little guide to what you can think about while reading that particular bible quote. Sometimes it is just pointing out to the reader that god doesn’t want you too feel bad about yourself, no matter your situation or what you have done, that he wants what is best for you and that you can find that all over the bible.
This book really is a book that can give you a guide towards peace and comfort with and in the words of god and with little quotes of the bible.
And even better you don’t have to read about another persons life and their failings or winnings, but have a little passage that simple talks about god without direct personal touches by the author. I am not saying that it is bad to have a person anecdote to bible quotes or passages. Sometimes that is what I need to remind myself that i am not alone in a situation or that other people have recovered from worth situations. But there are also days that I do not want to read about what horrible deed someone else has done and how god has saved them. Sometimes I just want to start my day by having a little blurb from the bible and inspiring words on what I could take from it.
And this book does exactly that and does so very nicely.
I also loved that this book is not dated in the typical way of January 1st and so on, but simply “Day 1”, “Day 2” … you get my meaning. That allows the reader to actually start any day in the year without feeling like they have to start towards the end or middle of the book instead of on day one. I do not always get my act together on the first of January to start my daily devotion books, but rather remember in the middle of the year that I wanted to start one. But I really dislike starting books in the middle, so this is really perfect, because you can start it on day one, no matter the actual date.
And lastly the design of the book is kept very simple, which I like. The pages are always the same –the cover page actually- and I enjoy that as well because you can’t get sidetracked by noticing little changes or details throughout the page on the book instead of focusing on what you are reading. I like that this book is kept simple and elegant –at least that is what I feel like the design is- and focused on what is it all about: giving you peace and comfort by and with the words of god for your day.
If you are in search of a daily devotional book that focuses on what is important: helping you connect to god, this is perfect. If you don’t want another book filled with pages after pages of personal stories by the author: this is perfect for you. If you are new to religion and not yet sure if you can understand the bible or feel connect to the bible: this is perfect because it can help you understand and relate to what the bible is saying.
This book is not for you if you love the direct personal stories by the authors and need them to like a book. Other then that I can not think of a reason why someone might not enjoy this book. Give it a try, I am sure you can find something that you enjoy with it and be as positively surprised by it as I was.

I loved this devotional. It starts out with the verse and then the devotion. I love how it does days instead the date because it can be started at anytime. One of my favorite devotions was on Day 281 titled Downtime. It uses verse Isaiah 30:15 from the Bible. The devotion is about how our daily lives can interrupt our lives with spending time with God. Even Jesus took time out of his ministry to rest and spend time with his Father. All the devotions are practical. Also I love the design of this book The book is beautiful and the pages. This book was done very well. Highly recommend it. This book is good for those who want to understand the Bible better or connect with it. It is also good for those who really looking for a book to bring comfort throughout the day.

I am always looking for encouraging and supportive resources for widows to add to my grief support blog. Everyday Peace and Comfort is a wonderful addition to my Resources page. Who would not love a book where every day's devotion is surrounded by flowers? There is a lot of encouragement in each short devotional. I found Day 330 especially comforting because I am going through a time of healing both physically and in my career. God does heal slowly but surely every day. I highly recommend this book for women who are widows or going through any other nasty life event. Thank you Patricia Mitchell.

This was a beautifully decorated and simple daily encouragement. It had a daily verse and one paragraph explanation or application of that verse. The tone and feel was lovely, like a grandmother's advice or journal. Heartfelt, sweet, simple and loving. I loved it's practical simplicity and beauty!
