Description
Cracks are appearing in the peaceful and technologically advanced society of New Atlantis. Rescued by mysterious aliens from their sinking island on Earth centuries ago, New Atlanteans are surreptitiously studying their ancestral home for cultural content, including pilfering artifacts. While global conditions on far-away, contemporary Earth are deteriorating, a resistance movement that challenges the Government’s exploitation of Earth’s cultural riches is gaining momentum.
Four women, all reckoning with loss, find themselves caught up in the brewing conflict: a New Atlantean ethnographer on Earth assignment, a military Tracker based on New Atlantis’s moon, a San Francisco-based diarist, and a young New Atlantean starting her career at her world’s Global Festival. A botched plane landing and a brutal murder force them to improvise. As events unfold and their stories interweave, new threats arise for each woman. But so does fresh hope—for them, for Earth’s fate, and for the future of New Atlantis.

Atlantis Travelers by Bonnie Brooks is well-written and an enjoyable read to the end.
It's a soft sci-fi novel, with murder mysteries to enhance the action.. The author did an excellent job in the development of every character, both New Atlantean and Earthers. Even with a list of characters provided at the onset, the New Atlantean first and family (clan) names were a challenge at first, however, all relationships were explained during the course of the novel. I found the backstory in the history of the new planet extremely interesting. The team concept and goals behind each of the earthly visitors made the story a delight, with no suspension of belief or plot holes.
The book is forthcoming in September, a great buy in paperback or e-book format for all travelers wherever they may go.
My thanks to the publisher an author for an advance copy of Atlantis Travelers by Bonnie Brooks..

Brooks has written, what I believe, is the best new installation in the science fiction canon and deserves accolades at the tier of the greats like Butler and Asimov. It's a totally refreshing tale set in an incredibly tangible world with characters fully fleshed to the point of inherent familiarity. I felt like I wanted more as soon as the book ended! Brooks has a definitive voice and a knack for shock (and more importantly) awe. Its harrowing and hopeful all in the same breath. I can't imagine a better way to spend an afternoon that with Kaieda and the gang. SEQUEL SEQUEL SEQUEL NOW NOW NOW!
