On Tulare Island, Magick is a way of life, but for smart-mouthed Nicole Fontane, it’s a curse to be avoided at all costs. Yet the legacy she was born with and her failure to live up to it isn’t so easy to bury.

With less than two hundred dollars in her bank account and rent looming overhead, Nicole is forced to take a job at Tribec Insurance. Corporate, stuffy, and nothing like what she wanted for herself. It doesn’t help that the company’s proprietors, the Stewart family, harbor a morbid fascination with the Naqada, a mysterious pre-dynastic Egyptian society. Between the eerie atmosphere, heightened security, and the stench of blood wafting through Tribec, Nicole suspects the Stewarts are dabbling in a dark art she never thought she’d encounter:
