I was really looking forward to this book and having Elijah find and care for Sophiel. I so wanted them to finally come together and make sure the other knows that they're all they want. And the beginning eventually became just that. Which was great. But when the magus and his sisters show up everything gets ruined. And I mean everything. With the way Elijah and Sophiel end up parting, the story also seems to digress some. Elijah is still the formidable warrior determined to do whatever it takes to get Sophiel back. But Sophiel has withdrawn into herself and only more pain is inflicted upon her when she's used practically as shield by Diril against Gabriel. The action that there was was good and entertaining, even shocking at times. But there was so much talking and then even more talking about feelings. Sorry, but in my mind, big strong warriors do NOT talk about their feelings so openly with other warriors....that's just weird. Sophiel frustrated me to no end in this book as well. Elijah just can't seem to catch a break either and ends up with practically no choice but to form an alliance of sorts with his rival. But I'm looking forward to their little trip to Hell because it hopefully seems to require more action. Well, that and I REALLY want Elijah to have the chance to explain what actually happened and get Sophiel back.
