I absolutely loved this story! Lately, it seems like there's a surge of books focusing on older characters, and I think that's fantastic—especially when it highlights older women. Sometimes, it feels like we're just dropped on an island once our societal value decreases, and it's so empowering to see stories where we come together and thrive. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Golden Rage folllows is set in a world where older women who have been deemed useless to society are sent to an island and made to fight for their lives while making friends and desserts.
This was such a great read. I am a big fan of dystopian stories so this was right up my alley. I really liked th concept. The artwork in this graphic novel was beautifully drawn. I am exited to see where the story goes in the next volumes as I feel we still have a lot to learn about the characters and the world.
The corrupt government could have been touched upon a little more as it would tie the story a little more together.
But overall a great read I would deffinately recommend.

What a great story. When so many people define women based on their reproductive capacity, it's interesting to see a society where women are banished to an island when they enter menopause. So many conflicts as the women have to figure out their identities once they've been discarded.
The Golden Girls references were fantastic and the artwork was stunning.

This was over the top crazy, with a strong message behind it. “Picture it. 2023. Image Comics.” I hope you read that in Sophia’s voice, because “Golden Rage, Volume 1” is a love letter to the Golden Girls. Well, if it took place on an island and the women were all trying to kill each other.
We are in invited to an island where the women that have begun experiencing menopause no longer serve a purpose to the rest of society, so they are sent to an island. And as if they are living out “Lord of the Flies”, a hierarchy has been established. And there is a war to be the ones in charge.
The writing is dark and tongue-in-cheek. I would like to write more, but I need to go call my mom to let her know she is still useful to society and that I love her. After reading this graphic novel, I’m more than a little scared of her.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing an ARC for an unbiased review.
It’s the Granny Thunderdome!
Prepare for the dystopian island of your nightmares (with desserts)! Golden Rage is an action adventure graphic novel featuring some prime golden aged ladies who have been deemed by society to be useless. However, factions have formed a battle is on the way. This is a bloody graphic novel. With some gorgeous and vibrant illustrations that pop off the page, the story comes to life. The vibrancy of these images also help elevate this story to the next level. It’s a whirlwind of adventure and this is a story you don’t want to miss! Pack some cheesecake and buckle up for a great story!
An exiting and thoughtful quick read that's sure to grab your attention, and keep it!
Beautiful drawings and STUNNING colours accompany an interesting story, touching important themes such as 'usefulness' in old age (especially women's!).
This is a new, fun, exciting, character-driven comic. I was interested at the description of Golden Girls meets Battle Royale and it did not disappoint. Yes, women are abandoned on this island when they get older; however it would appear the usefulness of their uterus is a determining factor.
This is a great introduction to these characters and story, will recommend, will keep reading! 10/10!!

A book that proved to be so much stronger than its premise. The Golden Girls meets Battle Royale tag line certainly gets you in the door but Williams and company do so much to effortlessly flesh out the characters and this world. I hate that I have to wait for the follow up.
This could be a personal observation BUT: there’s a cognitive dissonance when it comes to postmenopausal women in our society. Sure, they’re still people, they’re our loved ones, but something that is a completely natural and biological process, has changed them. On the other hand, they can be some real Karens and are avoided if at all possible. Anyway, back to this intriguing story:
Who sent all these postmenopausal women to live on an island? Why did they rip them from their places in society? And how is a woman in her thirties involved in this?
The graphic novel is divided in multiple women’s POV. Truly, I think their time together in this storyline was a growing experience for everyone involved. We all really can learn something from one another and I think the author really drove this point home.

Golden girls meets battle royal? Sold.
This was a breathtakingly beautiful bloodbath. A captivating and compelling look at a woman’s worth. One that, in the end, boasted the indestructible bonds of sisterhood.
The art in this is sensational. Painting the island is rich color and the lives, tossed aside, in vivid contrast. The story raw, and poignant. One that leaves you with more questions than it answers.
I’m hooked. I’ll be following the story to see what unfolds with the characters I’m now invested in and the government that cast them out. Can’t wait for vol 2.
