The Rescue: Survival Beyond the Stars by Faye Peacock Wilson is a supernatural science fiction novel that follows a specialized crew traveling through a portal from Earth Prime to Earth 2 to investigate an alien species called the Others. The Others use shape-shifting and replication to mimic humans, threatening the crew’s mission and safety. The crew struggles to stop the Others’ replication process while trying to understand Earth 2’s hostile environment. After a dangerous encounter, they return to Earth Prime but discover that one member's DNA has been altered by alien genetics, causing her and others to develop new abilities. They join a secret community called Little America. Theophilus and Major Ingram reveal the existence of the Stellarians, alien-human hybrids preparing to defend against an invasion by the parasitic Lunorites.
Faye Peacock Wilson’s The Rescue is a unique and well-written treat, narrated in the first person for a fully immersive read in a fantastically imagined science fiction world. The detailed descriptions are almost cinematic, particularly as we are brought to Earth 2’s cracked, hostile terrain and the eerie amber skies, all making for a truly unsettling atmosphere. The Others, who are translucent, skeletal beings with shape-shifting abilities, completely challenge the crew’s perceptions, and that challenge extends to us as well. The technology is solid, with elements like nanotech suits, communicators emitting high-frequency sounds, and advanced containment devices all realistically integrated. There's plenty of excitement, from alien threats, dimensional lockdowns, and dangerous retreat through a wormhole, all leading to a satisfying conclusion. Overall, The Rescue is a tightly written and imaginative read. Very highly recommended.

In 2158, the nations of Earth Prime are troubled by news of a multidimensional portal that has opened in Roswell, New Mexico. Following extensive investigations, an elite team of professionals attempts to communicate with the beings on the other side of the portal, whom they have started referring to as The Others. Ellarisa Wilson is one of the eight individuals selected for this assignment, and her primary concern is ensuring the mission's security. As the astronauts embark on their exploratory mission aboard the Peacemaker, Ellarisa and her colleagues soon discover that everything their initial probes suggested about this new world is dangerously inaccurate, forcing them to depend entirely on their intellect for safety. Only time will tell if they will survive their adventure in Faye Peacock Wilson's The Rescue.
In The Rescue, Faye Peacock Wilson combines futuristic elements with contemporary activities, such as the bureaucracy among Earth Prime's governments in the early stages of the narrative, creating a unique, thought-provoking, and believable adventure. The story primarily unfolds from Ellarisa's perspective, making it easy for readers to connect with her complex motives. The extensive science-oriented banter in the dialogue captures even the minor details of the Peacemaker's preparations, highlighting some crew members' doubts about the upcoming mission and heightening the suspense. Perceptive readers will notice the significance of female characters, who play key roles in critical phases of the adventure. Science fiction enthusiasts will enjoy following the intricate aspects of the preparation process, while action fans will appreciate the brief battle scenes. Wilson blends an observational storytelling style with strategically placed clues, immersing readers in a narrative that requires them to think outside the box.
