Description
This short and fast-paced novelette is set in 1860s New York. Sadie “the Goat” Ferrell is one of the criminal superstars of the gangs of New York. Gallus Mag is her mortal enemy … and in an epic bar fight Gallus Mag bites off Sadie’s ear — and puts it in the pickle jar of other ears she has bitten off! — as the bouncer for the Hole-in-the-Wall bar in the notorious Fourth Ward.
Sadie takes this as sign, gives up on being a criminal by land, takes over the Charleton Street Gang, and is soon sailing up and down the Hudson River with the Jolly Rodger waving on the mast!
But there is so much more in store for Sadie than just being a small-time river pirate. She and her gang board the wrong ship, and suddenly Sadie is facing an all-too-real pirate queen — who is also a vampire.
Will Sadie survive meeting this powerful vampire and rise to meet her fate? And will she ever meet Gallus Mag again, and find out that hate and love are two very intense sides of the same coin...?

“This delicious series has bewitched me. Raven Belasco has built a convincing, detailed world full of violence and romance. A sensuous, deeply-felt back story. Highly recommended!”
— Patrick Califia, author of Mortal Companion
"With characteristic verve and her dazzling mastery of language, Raven Belasco introduces readers to a new chapter in her Blood & Ancient Scrolls series with That Lesbian Vampire Pirate Story. This short, snappy action-packed novelette transports you to 1860s New York, where street brawls and bar fights are the order of the day among the Fourth Ward's notorious gangs. Spiked with witty banter and Belasco's propulsive pacing, this is a one-bite read with teeth.
When criminal mastermind Sadie runs up against trouble with her old rival Gallus Mag, she abandons her ambitions on land and turns her sights to river piracy. She takes over leadership of a small band of brigands called the Charleton Street Gang, and together they ply the Hudson, finding mischief and opportunity in equal measure. But when Sadie and her crew attempt to seize control of the wrong ship, she finds herself up against a powerful pirate queen--who happens to be a vampire. The very human Sadie is equally terrified and intrigued by Lady Ruthven (a nice call-out to Polidori!) whose seductive swagger is deliciously tempting. But is this pirate queen the key to Sadie's future, or a dangerous enemy fated to destroy her?
The chemistry between Sadie and Lady Ruthven is absolutely magnetic, and I hope to see more of Lady Ruthven in future books in this series. The fight scenes and the love scenes are beautifully choreographed, with plenty of heat and action to satisfy those who like their books on the spicy and adventurous side.
This fun story is a great introduction to Belasco's series, even if you've never read her work before. Filled with sharp characters, wry humor, and historically accurate details, That Lesbian Vampire Pirate Story is a lively sapphic romp that will keep you on your toes!"
