Race car driver Johannes Muller is on a hot streak this season and seems destined to claim the championship win … until his performance unexpectedly falters. Gone is his cool confidence – on the track he can barely qualify, let alone take home the trophy.
The team’s race engineer, Caleb Hughes, is determined to get his star driver back in pole position, but soon the sparks flying over the radio are more chemistry than competition.
In a sport where everyone gives it their all at all times, it’s not long before Johannes and Caleb realise that their racing line is leading them towards a collision they won’t be able to walk away from unscathed…

Wow. Wow. Wow. This book blew me away. I have been trying to find a book that had longing and yearning and passion like this one for the whole year. I cannot explain how satisfying this book was to my brain.
So much happens in this book, and if you aren't an F1 fan, it is still incredibly easy to follow. It is a standalone within a series, and I always love those. I read Pole Position last year and loved that one, but I think this one is my favorite by far. The tension between these two characters is palpable and delish. It was so easy to cheer them on. It was such a fun read. I have already preordered this one from my local bookstore because I loved it so much!
Absolutely adored First to Finish by Rebecca J. Caffery. As someone who loves Formula 1 just as much as I love a good romance, this book felt like it was written directly for me. The way the story follows the season race by race had me completely hooked — it genuinely captures that edge-of-your-seat feeling you get watching a real Grand Prix weekend.
The romance between Johannes and Caleb is everything. Tender, intense, supportive, and beautifully developed — the kind of relationship you dream about and root for the entire way through. Their connection feels natural and emotional without ever taking away from the high-stakes racing atmosphere; instead, it enhances it.
I also loved how immersed the book is in the F1 world. You can feel the pressure, the competition, and the relentless pace of the season. If I had to offer a critique (and I really mean had to), I’d only wish for slightly more technical F1 language — but that’s such a minor thing and comes purely from being a hardcore fan.
Truly, I don’t have a bad word to say about this book. It’s the perfect blend of sport, romance, and tension, and I finished it with the biggest smile on my face. If you love Formula 1, romance, or ideally both, this is an absolute must-read
I absolutely loved! This book completely captured my heart from the very first pages. Rebecca J. Caffery has such an engaging and emotional writing style that makes you feel deeply connected to the characters and their journey. I wasn’t just reading the story, I felt like I was living every moment alongside them. What touched me the most was how real everything felt. The emotions, the struggles, the tension, and especially the romance were written in such an authentic way that it was impossible not to get invested. I found myself thinking about the characters even when I wasn’t reading, wondering what would happen next and hoping they would find their happiness.
The pacing was perfect, balancing heartfelt, vulnerable moments with scenes that made my heart race. There’s something so powerful about a story that makes you feel this much and this one definitely did. It made me smile, it made me emotional, and it left me with that bittersweet feeling you get when you finish a book you truly loved. 💖✨
