Description
Celia García has always had one goal: to compose film scores. But after a decade of advertising jingles, that dream couldn’t be further out of reach—until an old college friend presents her with a life-changing opportunity. A big-name director so desperately needs a composer for his TV debut that he’ll take a chance on someone new. There’s only one catch. Celia has to work—and live—with her college nemesis, Oliver Barlowe.
Celia remembers Oliver as arrogant, rude, and entitled—the picture-perfect scion of Hollywood royalty. Soon, though, late nights and long days together reveal how much Oliver’s changed, sparking new feelings and the discovery that their rivalry wasn’t quite as mutual as she thought. But in an industry where she needs to work twice as hard to be seen as half as good, a romance with Oliver could end Celia’s career just as it’s starting

4⭐️! It’s always the quiet ones… and this book is further proof of that! In this second novel from Ana Holguin, we follow Celia, a struggling Latina composer in New York City, struggling to make ends meet until the opportunity of a lifetime is offered to work on the score for an upcoming show. The catch? She has to work alongside her college rival, Oliver.
Being the son of Hollywood royalty, Celia recalls Oliver being arrogant and entitled. But that was 13 years ago. Now? He’s grown into a man that surprises her. With them both having been excelling Julliard students, they’re forced to face their past history and a sudden kindling of something more. One that can risk everything for Celia.
I LOVEDDD this one. The yearning? The tension? The spice? A hot man with glasses AND who goes to therapy? It had my toes curling and left me wanting so much more. I enjoyed learning about Celia’s background, while navigating around her family life in Washington Heights. Oliver’s character was much more complex and I would’ve loved to see more of his backstory or inner thoughts. But overall, this was a perfect read for anyone craving a cute romance centered around music composition. I also absolutely loved learning more about the field!
