Description
Practicing the Impossible An Ordinary Kid. An Extraordinary Goal.
At just eleven years old, Lucas Oliveira scored one of the rarest goals in soccer—an Olympic goal, straight from a corner kick. Most professional players go their entire lives without ever scoring one.
This true story follows Lucas and his middle-school team, the Patriots, through a season of hard practices, tough losses, and unforgettable wins. Led by a first-time coach—his dad—they learned that effort, teamwork, and heart matter more than anything written on the scoreboard.
“Ordinary kids can do extraordinary things.”
From freezing practices to the championship final, Practicing the Impossible reminds every young athlete that success comes from discipline, courage, and never giving up.
Perfect for readers ages 8–13, parents, and coaches who love motivational sports stories.
What readers will discover
* How practice turns dreams into reality * That teamwork and effort matter more than talent * How an unforgettable season changed a team forever
Work hard. Chase your dreams. Believe in the impossible.

Practicing the Impossible kicked straight into my heart with grit, laughs, and the most jaw-dropping ‘did-that-really-just-happen?!’ goal ever.

Practicing the Impossible is a heartfelt, down-to-earth true story about Lucas Oliveira’s unforgettable middle-school soccer season—complete with freezing practices, tough losses, friendships, and one jaw-dropping Olympic goal that even pros rarely score. What I loved most wasn’t just the big moment, but the way Lucas shows how ordinary kids can grow through discipline, courage, and heart. Reading about his team’s journey—from awkward beginnings to playoff battles—felt honest, inspiring, and surprisingly emotional. I especially enjoyed seeing how much the coaches, parents, and teammates shaped every turning point; it reminded me why youth sports matter so much.

Oh my cleats and corner kicks—this book had me cheering in my living room like it was the World Cup!
Practicing the Impossible is the kind of book that blasts you right in the heart (in the best way). I loved how Lucas takes you onto the field with him—the cold practices, the wild scrimmages, the laughs in the car, the moments he wants to cry, and then BAM… that insane Olympic goal that made me jump off the couch. This book proves that regular kids can do ridiculous, awesome, totally-wild things when they don’t quit. If you need a boost, a smile, or a reminder that young athletes are tougher and braver than we realize—read this one. ⚽🔥🙌
