Description
A sparkling romance between an ex-actress and her contractor, reminding us that it’s never too late to rewrite our destiny.
Semi-retired actress Marissa Morgan has played many parts in her life. But these days, her primary role is mother of two. Since hitting pause on her career, she’s worked hard to give her kids a normal childhood and shield them from the spotlight. When her ex-husband announces his high-profile engagement and a media storm ensues, Marissa and her kids flee Los Angeles for a summer at her recently inherited Poconos lake house.
The long-vacant house needs major TLC, so Marissa hires a home renovation company. But when the project hits a snag and Marissa finds herself sharing space with the crew, including Jesse, the handsome (and vaguely familiar) foreman, her plans for a drama-free summer hit choppy water. As the summer days pass, Marissa starts centering her own needs for the first time in years—and that includes giving in to her mounting attraction to Jesse. Soon, she questions if their fling could become something more.
After an unexpected career opportunity falls into Marissa’s lap, it feels like the stars have finally aligned. But when new complications arise, Marissa and Jesse wonder how they’ll fit into each other’s future. Can the two of them chart a new course together, or is it too late to rewrite the script for a happily ever after?

Soft yearning? Emotional tension? A man who has been in love the whole time and just never said anything? Yes please.
Rewrite the Stars gave me the kind of quiet, pining that makes me want to shake the male lead and also hug him at the same time.
The tension in this book dramatic. And honestly? That kind of slow-burn emotional payoff hits harder than chaos sometimes.
I loved the “he fell first and never recovered” energy. There’s something so satisfying about watching years of quiet feelings finally bubble to the surface.

This was such a wholesome story with a super sweet romance. I really loved idea of this book and how every detail came together. The actress x contractor dynamic was so fun and I was truly rooting for Marissa and Jesse’s happiness the entire time. There was so much love and growth and some great neurodivergence rep in this book. Overall, a wonderful read.

A sweet, emotional romance with plenty of heart. Marissa’s journey of rediscovering herself beyond motherhood feels real and relatable, and her slow-burn connection with Jesse is both tender and swoony. The cozy lake setting adds to the charm. Overall a warm, satisfying read.
Marissa Morgan used to spend most her days in the spotlight, but these days she has chose a quieter more secluded life for the sake of her children. She has hit pause on her acting career and decided to give her kids the life they deserve. But just as they settle into their new norm her ex-husband decides to announce his high profile engagement...which completely implodes her quiet little life.
Rewrite the Stars is a perfectly crafted story of new beginnings, healing, second chances, friendship, and finding that once in a life time kind of love. In this one we meet a single mom who has just given up her career as an actress for a much simpler life, but just as her and her children settle into their new routine, her ex husband decides to disrupt it. So, she decides a change of scenery, away from the paparazzi, is in order, which takes them to a dilapidated lake house in the Poconos. It's evident that their new home away from home needs a little work, now she just has to find home renovation company to make the repairs. And that is where things take an interesting turn...
This first time read took me by surprise, in a good way of course, the writing was so easy to just fall into and get wrapped up between the pages. The emotional bits were raw and rich with feeling, the characters perfectly designed and easy to love, and the story line so engaging... a perfect escape in my book! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Lindsay Hameroff’s Rewrite the Stars was such a beautiful and heartfelt read. Lindsay writes a story that explores what motherhood truly looks like and NOT the polished, picture-perfect version, but the messy, emotional, exhausting, and deeply rewarding reality of what it truly is....
This book touches on the trials and tribulations of motherhood in a way that felt incredibly authentic, especially through the lens of parenting a neurodivergent child. It highlights the constant balancing act of trying to juggle life, divorce, raising children, and somehow still attempting to figure out who you are outside of all of that. The emotional weight of carrying so much while also trying to take care of yourself felt honest and real.
As a mama with a neurodivergent kiddo myself, parts of this hit especially close to home. There were moments that felt deeply relatable, and I really appreciated the care and nuance woven into those experiences. It’s not always an easy journey, and seeing those realities represented meant a lot.
And then there’s Jesse and Marissa. I absolutely adored their story and loved watching them find their way back to each other after so many years apart. Their connection felt natural and genuine, and their journey was filled with warmth, emotion, and so many moments that had me rooting for them. Lindsay has such a talent for writing relationships that feel layered and lived in. Beyond the romance, this book is about second chances in more ways than one: second chances at love, at happiness, and at rediscovering yourself after life takes unexpected turns.
I love Lindsay Hameroff’s books, and Rewrite the Stars was another reminder of why. She writes stories filled with heart, emotion, and characters that stay with you long after you finish reading. This one completely captured me, and I highly recommend it.

I’ve never read any books by Lindsay Hameroff before, so how does her writing feel like coming home? She writes with a certain humor and familiarity that I was drawn to from the start. I loved her writing so much that I 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 borrowed another book of hers from the library so I could keep reading her words.
I smiled too many times to count while reading this book. It’s a perfect summer romance set in the Poconos, but it’s also a lot more. It’s about motherhood, family, friendship, finding yourself, and knowing you always have a home to come back to. There’s a lot happening here, but at the center of it all, there’s a woman named Marissa.
I loved getting to know Marissa both as a mother (a very dedicated one) and on her own, without her kids. Seeing Marissa rediscover who she was as a person was without a doubt my favorite part of this whole book. She’s a mother, yes, AND she’s her own person. Marissa didn’t change fundamentally, but became stronger in her sense of self. Watching her experience that realization and put it to action was incredibly rewarding.
Each character in this story was really fun to get to know. I particularly loved Pooja, the supportive, hilarious queen she is, and both Isla and Levi. The relationship between these two siblings warmed my heart, and it brought tears to my eyes, the way Isla cared for her little brother so fervently.

Marissa’s relationship with Jesse was instrumental in helping her realize a lot about herself. He helped her come alive, and she did the same for him. I’m a sucker for a second chance, “it’s always been you” romance, and this one was really sweet. Jesse has held a candle for Marissa for such a long time, and for them to finally end up together felt like kismet.
Without giving away any spoilers, I have to say that every single part of that ending had me wanting to jump up and down and scream, “yes yes yes!” It was perfection.

Rewrite the Stars was an absolutely charming and emotional romance that completely pulled me in from the first chapter. The small-town lake setting was cozy and nostalgic, and I loved the mix of second chances, childhood memories, and slow-burn chemistry between Marissa and Jesse. Their relationship felt genuine and mature, with both characters carrying realistic struggles and personal growth throughout the story. The banter, heartfelt moments, and family dynamics (especially Toby and Shelby) made this book impossible to put down. It was the perfect balance of sweet, funny, and emotional, and I found myself rooting for them the entire time. A beautifully written rom-com that leaves you smiling long after you finish.
