Description
The adventures of Captain Jack Dryden and Lady Daphne continue...
While Captain Jack Dryden would lay down his life for the Regent, he draws the line at endangering his wife in the dark alleyways of Cairo—the place where the Regent's friend and procurer of antiquities has gone missing. But Lady Daphne Dryden will not be denied the opportunity to see swaying palms, crumbling pillars, and soaring pyramids in exotic Egypt. She even insists on bringing her youngest sister, Rosemary, who's enamored of all things Oriental. The Regent insists on sending Stanton Maxwell, England's most imminent expert on Egyptology, as their interpreter and his own soldiers as their protectors.

I wasn't too sure about this book, but I found I throughly enjoyed it. I do enjoy reading about times and places that have been lost in history. I salsa enjoyed the way the author brought her characters to life. Definitely recommend.

I love books set in the period of Egyptology, this one was great mystery, thrills, spills and some romance to boot. This book reminds me a lot of the Peabody books written by Elizabeth Peters, which I love. It has a gentler touch and sets the scene of Egypt a lot more. Regardless, it was a really fun book and I am sure there will b lots more adventures after this one as the ending allows it.

Captain Jack Dryden would never normally dream of turning down an assignment from the Regent. But he’s being asked to travel to Egypt to try to find the Regent’s antiquities who’s disappeared during some shady dealings. Jack has no intention of dragging his wife Daphne into such a dangerous location. The lady in question, however, has other ideas. Daphne can’t wait to go to Egypt, and she wants to bring her sister, Rosemary along to see all the exotic sight. Jack finally relents, but only after the Regent arranges to send along soldiers and expert Egyptologist Stanton Maxwell. A fun period mystery for fans of Barbara Peters
