Clever, eerie, and impossible to forget...
Shades of Mortality is the kind of short story collection that pulls you in with curiosity and leaves you wide eyed, thinking about it long after the last page.
Shades of Mortality jumps between dark fantasy, strange sci fi ideas, and deeply human moments, all tied together by these mysterious storytellers watching lives unfold. Some stories are creepy, some are emotional, and a few really caught me off guard with their twists, especially the ones that start simple and end in a totally different place. I loved how each story felt complete on its own but still fit the bigger theme about life and death. I had a hard time putting it down because I never knew what kind of story I was getting next, and that made reading it a lot of fun.
I picked this up for a few short stories and ended up spiraling through life, death, and some seriously wild twists.
Okay, this book is a ride. One minute you think you are reading something sweet or simple and the next minute it punches you in the feelings or flips the whole situation upside down. I loved how bold these stories are. They go dark, they go weird, and they are not afraid to get uncomfortable. There are creepy moments, clever reveals, and a bunch of stories that stick in your head way after you finish. If you like short fiction that actually makes you think and feel instead of just filling space, you need this one. 📚🔥
