Advance Praise

“I loved how honest The Rule of Three is about women’s lives and ambition, and especially about the quiet, cumulative cost of accommodating men. It’s so observant without ever being worthy, and properly funny without letting anyone off the hook. No small feat.” Stefanie Preissner, writer of The Walsh Sisters - BBC 1 adaptation of Marion Keyes acclaimed novels.

"An unflinching dissection of a woman's life, marriage and understanding of herself. Honestly told and well paced. Enjoyable reading with a strong theater/play/production vein." Fable Book Parlour, Revelstoke, BC

The Rule of Three is a small marvel of a story…the kind that finds you sinking into the hearts and minds of characters so believable and accessible that they seem touched by the fairy’s wand, to live and breathe, and be all the things..funny, grief-stricken, bewildered, enraged, confused, inspired…in situations that readers feel happened to them. I know. It happened to me ! ... It’s a lovely read, enough honest, enough outrageous, enough sad, enough brave and enough love to fill the empty, inside places with whatever they need. It satisfies. It is satisfying!

Leslie A. Davidson author of Dancing in Small Spaces

Despite her love of the theater, Julia soon comes to realize that the only role she ever plays is that of Jonathan's wife. She willingly concedes to his emotional state and follows him across the country even at the sacrifice of her emotional happiness. She is a wonderful mother to Abby and Joe; yet, all of her self esteem is predicated on how Jonathan feels and acts in that moment. He really does just see her as the substitute of the fairy in the panto. It is only when he leaves her for Charlotte that Julia has to come to the realization if she actually does him back. Does she love him or the idea of him? Who is she without him? What does she love to do? Why doesn't she deserve to live a full life? Encouraged by her friend Kim and bolstered by her family, Julia is determined to find out. She begins gardening again in creating a garden that she likes and is proud of. She writes poems and participates In open Mic with her neighbor, Sandra. Here enters the Rule of Three. She enters into a friendship with Gabriel and travels to St. John by herself where she indulges in self care. She visits Greg and revitalized her relationships with her best friends from high school. She goes to Prague and sees the play that she wanted to see rather than being dictated by what Jonathan had wanted. She, most importantly like Anna whose character she created, found herself. Most importantly, she liked what she found.
