Description

Everyone knows that when you can’t get to sleep, you count sheep. But what happens when pigs decide they want to be the ones children count when they try to fall asleep?

The pigs live happily and peacefully together but they can’t help wondering why only sheep get to be counted by children trying to fall asleep. Why can’t children count pigs instead? One day, a particularly ambitious pig decides to discuss the situation with a sheep, who makes it quite clear that only sheep are qualified to do the job. But this team of pigs has other ideas and starts to put their plans in action! Will they be able to help children fall asleep as well as the sheep?

"Clever dialogue and quirky narratorial asides make for wryly humorous reassurance that it's OK to stop chasing a dream--especially if pursuing one's aspirations yields only angst. An appealingly offbeat argument in favor of the status quo." -Kirkus Reviews

Thank you #NetGalley and NubeOcho for this ARC children's book in return for my honest opinion.

Such a cute book that gave me a chuckle while reading it. Pigs who wanted to help a child get to sleep at night. They didnt know it would be such hard work. Pigs finally decide to do what they do best, be pigs.

I loved this picture book! I took it with me to work to share with my pig-loving friend. We both agreed it was a hoot and a cautionary tale about being careful what you wish for. Everyone of any age will adore Pig Dreams.

I really had fun reading this one. It reminded me of the story I loved when I was a kid about the true story of the big bad wolf. Quick, fun, and clear! Would definitely buy this for my kids.

A cute and lighthearted tale with simple but cute illustrations. I thought the vocabulary was a little above the level normally found in a picture book, so I would steer more precocious children towards it rather than those behind on their reading skills. I received my copy of this book as a digital ARC from Netgalley.

Pig Dreams by Margarita del Mazo is a charming and imaginative picture book that playfully asks what would happen if pigs, instead of sheep, helped children fall asleep. With humor and expressive illustrations, the story celebrates individuality, perseverance, and daring to dream beyond expectations. This heartwarming read is both entertaining and meaningful, making it a delightful addition to any bedtime bookshelf. On a personal note, I loved the illustrations. In my opinion they were more nostalgic style illustrations from the children's books I grew up with. I loved them! It was more illustrative and less "technology" for lack of better comparison. I just loved them.

This book is cute! The simple illustrations made me laugh. This is a fun story about pigs who feel left out when a kid only counts sheep to fall asleep, so they devise a plan to take over the sheep's role. Young kids will enjoy this book. Thanks to NubeOcho, Publisher Spotlight, and NetGalley for the digital ARC.

Why do sheep get all the attention? Well, these pigs are over it and want in on the bedtime routine. A silly story about some pigs learning that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

In Pig Dreams the pigs are jealous that counting sheep is the way to help Johnny fall asleep. They plan and scheme and eventually take over the job. Night after night the pigs work until they realize that the job isn't as great as they imagined. The pigs miss their leisurely lives. They decide to give the sheep back their counting duties.

The book is a great story of being true to yourself and your own talents. In Pig Dreams has funny illustrations and an engaging story. This would be a fun read aloud in a class.

Thank you, NetGalley and Publisher Spotlight, for this ARC.
