Hope at Brimstone Lodge is a warm, gently dramatic Regency tale about unexpected beginnings, hidden identities, and the courage it takes to step into a life you never imagined for yourself. It opens with a wonderfully chaotic spark: Edward, desperate to escape his mother’s relentless matchmaking, makes a reckless bet to marry the first single woman he meets. Eleanor, grounded and sincere, has no idea she’s agreeing to anything more than a simple life with a man she believes is an estate manager. Their early days together have a sweetness to them, a sense of two people finding comfort in each other before the truth has a chance to catch up.

When Eleanor discovers who Edward really is, the story shifts into something richer and more emotionally textured. Her heartbreak feels real, but so does her quiet strength as she faces the impossible choice between walking away or stepping into the daunting role of Countess. The novel handles this turning point with a lovely balance of vulnerability and resolve, letting Eleanor grow into her own power without losing the softness that makes her so compelling.

The unexpected ally who steps forward adds a lovely thread of hope, offering Eleanor not just guidance but a sense of belonging in a world she never expected to enter. Their influence becomes a gentle catalyst, helping her see that she might be capable of far more than she ever believed.
This is a cozy, uplifting story about trust, second chances, and the kind of love that asks you to become braver, not smaller. It’s tender, lightly dramatic, and full of that comforting charm that makes historical romance such a pleasure to read.

With thanks to Ellen-Mary McPherson, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC

This is an interesting plot & I was looking forward to reading it. However, I struggled to get through it... I didn't love the 3rd person POV & found a lot of the conversation to be stilted partly due to that...

I enjoyed the couple (Edward & Eleanor, although they were introduced to each other initially as Ted & Nora)'s initial meeting & relationship for the first bit, the quick marriage... but then it suddenly switched to them being apart & that was the majority of the book... just not my favorite style to have the breakup be most of the book.

I did like the ending.

Thank you to the author, publisher & Netgalley for the ARC read. All opinions are my own.

Cute British romance with so many lovely surprises!! I am a sucker for good side character moments as well, and this book had a couple captivating stories you can easily find yourself quickly rooting for! I would thoroughly enjoy keeping up with Nora and Ted or perhaps Carter, Emily, or Marie in future books if this were to be a series!!
