I'm such a sucker for this kind of trope I don't know why but it's no wonder why I enjoyed this one.

Awesome !

Charlotte and Marcus have an amazing chemistry between them but are fighting it. Thanks to the Preston brothers interference, they end up spending the weekend together. Charlotte uses seductive behavior to protect herself and decides to seduce Marcus over the weekend and get him out of her system once and for all, but Marcus wants to prove to Charlotte that a guy can want her for more than just a good time. This is my first book by Darah Lace and I enjoyed it immensely. The characters had amazing chemistry . There was humor , drama and I loved how the story played out. Would definitely like to read more in the series.

Charlotte pushes Marcus away because she doesn’t want to be at the mercy of loving someone. However, she seems to be fighting a losing battle as her desire for him takes over.

Marcus pushes Charlotte away because he doesn’t just want a fling with her – he wants everything. However, from what he can see, she’s just good-time girl. It’s getting harder and harder to keep himself distant.

Marcus’ siblings and Charlotte’s best friend conspire to push them together by rigging the bachelor auction. They find themselves spending a weekend together. Having a bunch of sponsors and promoters along for the weekend means that Charlotte and Marcus spend more time physically entwined together than they actually want, in spite of their attraction.

Charlotte resolves to sleep with him to get him out of her system, once and for all. Marcus resolves to hold himself back to prove to her that she’s worth more. It’s a battle of wills.

This was a sweet, slow burn of a story, as Marcus starts to discover the real Charlotte under her flighty persona. It was an enjoyable read!

Darah Lace writes with humor and passion and I enjoyed Bachelor Auction so much I've added the Preston Brother's series to my to be read list. I think that what I appreciated most was the multi layered characters, both primary and secondary. The heroine has hardened her heart and reconciled herself to the realm of one night stands/no commitments. The hero is a little commitment shy himself. But of course, fate, (and their friends!) conspire to get the couple together. The story itself is well crafted, and I found the secondary characters interesting enough to warrant their own stories. Well Done!

Title:   Bachelor Auction Series:  Preston Brothers Book #2 Author:  Darah Lace Genre:  Romance Blurb:   Marcus Preston wants a relationship built on love and trust, but the woman he wants made it clear long ago she's only interested in fun and games. Yet, moving on proves difficult when no one else can erase the memory of the night they shared last summer.

Charlotte Reese doesn't believe in love, marriage, or happily ever afters. An occasional one-night stand is all she needs to take the edge off her loneliness and enhance the bad-girl image she uses to discourage commitment-seeking men' especially Marcus, the only man to melt both her body and her heart melt.

When Charlotte wins Marcus hot off the block of Houston's Most Eligible Bachelor Auction and they're forced to spend the weekend together, she seizes the opportunity to seduce him and extinguish the attraction sizzling between them once and for all. But for Marcus, it's all or nothing. He won't be seduced. Instead, he'll show Charlotte she has more to offer a man than sex. Thoughts:  Things aren’t always what they seem….and Marcus learns that the hard way in Bachelor Auction. Both Marcus and Charlotte are fighting their very real desire for each for their own personal reasons. Charlotte isn’t interested in anything permanent, and goes above and beyond to portray an image of herself that is fun and fancy free. Marcus on the other hand is interested in anything less! Unfortunately, he has also bought into the whole ‘image’ Charlotte shows to the world – and he also believes that Charlotte is a little too free with her affections. Their chemistry is not going away though – and when a few of their family and friends get together to set them up by changing Charlotte’s bid to win a date with Marcus, the couple winds up spending far more time together than they had anticipated. Marcus slowly finds himself given peeks into the character of the ‘real’ Charlotte…and he wants to see more!
This is a sweet little romance that has a depth to it that pulls you in slowly and has you really rooting for these two mixed up characters. Both are attracted to each other, yet they never seem able to get their acts together and get over some of their baggage and hang-ups to take a chance on each other. I was a little irked at Marcus for being so willing to believe all the bad publicity and negative image that Charlotte had and fight for what he wanted, but overall I really enjoyed the story and the romance between these two characters.

Bid on this one fellow readers !!!

This was top notch !!!. Its Marcus and Charlotte's tale. Charlotte wins her bid in the "Bachelor auction" for Marcus.....that would be great if she intended to bid !!!. This was brilliantly written, plenty of witty lines, I laughed out loud and I had many a "slide down my seat" moment when I cringed at funny but embarrassing parts.

Overall I just really enjoyed this read. I would have happily bid to get me some Marcus Preston !!!

Well done Darah for a brilliantly witty, romantic read ! Many thanks for this opportunity xx

Later peeps xxx

Marcus is manipulated into taking part in a bachelor auction by his brothers and then bought for Charlotte by her best friend. Unfortunately they have history, bad history, as marcus hates that she's so frivolous and flirty. But then again, how well does he really know her?

A great story, but I wish that the reveal was slower. I had thought that Marcus would have been more shocked by what he'd found out and then more self-reflective of how wrong he was about her. I was a little let down by the transformation in him, it seemed as if Charlotte had to do all the changing in his eyes.

"Bachelor Auction" by Darah Lace is book two in the "Preston Brothers" series. This can be read as a standalone. This is the story of Marcus Preston and Charlotte Reese.

Marcus and Charlotte shared a night together last summer and he cannot forget her. Charlotte cannot forget him either, but she doesn't believe in true love or relationships. Charlotte is more into one night stands. This is her way of protecting herself from getting hurt. Marcus wants more than a one night stand so he hasn't perused her after that night.

Marcus and Charlotte are forced to spend a weekend together since she wins him in Houston's Most Eligible Bachelor charity auction. Marcus wants Charlotte to know that she has more to offer than sex. Now the battle of wills is on. Will Charlotte seduce him in an attempt to get him out of system or will Marcus hold out for all of her?

At times you may want to shake Marcus and Charlotte but you will love how everything plays out. I loved the characters and the humor in the story. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley/The Wild Rose Press for an honest review. FYI, contains mature content.

Marcus is a caring man and I loved him right off, "Marcus knew she was teasing, but her comment stirred the gnawing guilt that had been festering in the back of his mind for months. “Are you having financial trouble? Because if you are—” I really enjoyed reading the book.
