Lord Benjamin Thompson and Miss Victoria Whitchurch met quite accidentally under an umbrella on a rainy day in London. They collided as they darted around the corner of a building, but neither realized the ramifications of their meeting. Miss Whitchurch was in London to locate her missing sister, a fallen woman who had cost the Whitchurch family everything.
