Description
When clouds roll in, wool-thick and grey,
and it's harder to breathe than before,
when we can't remember Dad's face
or how he sounded anymore,
we wait for the stars.
After losing her dad, Celeste's life feels like it's splintering. Then she makes a new friend in Katie, who shares her love of the beach, and meets Reuben, a fellow photographer. Maybe a new friendship group is just what she needs - as long as she keeps her growing attraction to Reuben out of the equation. But Celeste soon finds that emotions can't be bottled up...
A stunning novel in verse, perfect for fans of Sarah Crossan, Elizabeth Acevedo, Dean Atta and Tia Fisher.

This is very beautifully written in verse. The feeling of sadness and loss at the beginning is so touching. It features a very authentic voice for a heartbroken teenager.
Such a beautifully written book that explores grief and friendship and family.
Celeste and her family is grieving her father who passed away. This in verse novel follows Celeste as she manages 6th form in the aftermath of her dad passing away. This book explores how people are affected differently from grief but also how lonely it can be and the guilt you can feel from it. It’s quite emotional in places but you really get to know the main character. I loved how beautiful some of the writing was and read this so speedy. I loved the talk of the stars and beaches too.

Thanks to @netgalley and @littletigerbooks for the advance copy of We Wait for the Stars, a debut by Bridget Hamilton.
This was such a beautiful read; the story follows Celeste after the sudden loss of her father. What follows is how this loss changes the dynamics of her family, shifts in her friendship groups, and a questioning of how she can find herself and her path within this well of grief she finds herself in.
Bridget creates a beautiful sense of place with the story set in the north east in a fictional coastal town. A constant thread in the story is how Celeste finds a connection with her father at the beach and watching the stars.
Told in verse I know this will be a huge hit in the library, loved it! ❤️
