Description
After an unexpected one-night-stand, two people must navigate the outcome in this sparkling rom-com from Sophie Sullivan.
This will be Kyra Grand’s year. As the clock strikes midnight and the ball drops, she resolves to finally go after what she wants. This will be the year she leaves behind the family business and makes something of her own. However, a magical one-night-stand with her brother’s best friend throws a massive wrench in her plans.
Ethan Reynolds didn't think he was the type to settle down. Scared of jeopardizing his friendship with Kyra’s older brother, he resolves to never cross that line again. But when an unexpected consequence of their night together complicates things, Ethan and Kyra must grapple through everything standing in their way, to find love that’s waiting on the other side.

I don’t have enough time to list all the things I absolutely loved about this book! If you want a novel that truly embodies love and partnership without all the heavy drama and third-act breakup, pickup this book.
Kyra and Ethan were absolutely perfect for each other. I love how he fell first and had been pinning over her for year. I loved that he respected her and her desire to carve her own path in life. He adjusted quickly to what happens in the novel, and he does everything he can to show Kyra how far his love goes.
Kyra was so strong. She felt older than her 24/25 years, and I loved how she thought things through, went with the flow, and didn’t get discouraged when her own family didn’t believe in her. She had her own strength and Ethan’s encouragement.
This book was too cute. I’m so happy there was no third act breakup. I actually loved that these two were just perfect for each other. Enough happens to keep you entranced in the story, but this is also perfect when you just need a cute story. As someone with a stressful job, this is just what I needed.
*An ARC was received in exchange for an honest review.
Kyra is ready to carve a life for herself and chase her dreams. It’s hard to break away from everything you’ve ever known. It takes guts and tenacity — and a few faithful cheerleaders in your corner. Instead of supporting her decision, Kyra’s family perceives her plans as a rejection of their love and provision. As Kyra follows her heart, she finds that it’s been irrevocably attached to another, completely unexpected heart. After a ‘just for tonight’ encounter with her brother’s best friend, Ethan and Kyra find they’re now more connected than ever and the surprises just keep coming!
Sophie Sullivan is the master of gentle romance where the heat is perfectly balanced by the sweet. She makes me care about her characters as if they’re real people. And the emotional investment pays off — I squealed, I cried, and I smiled like a fool at my Kindle screen for hours. The story’s pacing gently eases you in the lives of Kyra and Ethan right before the world they’ve known gets flipped on its head. Even with great pacing, I did struggle to form a connection to the characters at first. However, as the story picks up I began to see how similar Kyra and I are — that emotional connection grounded me and kept me turning page after page. And while emotional connection isn’t necessary for a book to be considered well written, it absolutely deepens the reading experience.
This book took the ‘he falls first’ and ‘brother’s best friend’ tropes and blended them perfectly. Without giving too much away, the surprises keep the story moving as the stakes are raised and things become more serious. Meet Me at Midnight is a great fit for contemporary romance readers who want the emotions of a book to sink deeply into their souls — for readers who love surprise relationships, men who are emotionally honest and available, and who love forehead kisses.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin for the exclusive early access to read and review and to Sophie Sullivan for another fantastic story!
