Description

Shortly after takeoff, a jumbo jet explodes over the waters of Long Island. Witnesses claim the aircraft was shot down by a surface-to-air missile; the government insists a mechanical malfunction brought down the airplane. An old CIA file is uncovered which details the President was warned-to preclude commercial airliners from being shot out of the sky either pay a ransom or suffer the consequences.

Just as the Agency identifies the shadowy man responsible for the shoot down of the airliner, the Libyan dictator Gaddafi is overthrown, sparking a race between the CIA and terrorist networks to win the ultimate terrorist prize-hundreds of man-portable, shoulder-launched, anti-aircraft missiles.

Duncan Hunter and his top secret airplane once again team up with an expert crew to find the anti-aircraft missiles ahead of the al-Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood, and kill the man who shoots down airliners for profit.

Fantastic Book. I really enjoyed the opening to this story, it grabbed me straight away. There is allot going on in this story, but in a good way. Duncan Hunter is a great character, with allot of skills. I haven't read any books where part of the story is based in Libya. It was very interesting the background the Author has gone into with this story. An excellent read.

A great techno-thriller, this is part of a series, but you don't have to have read every preceding volume to follow the action. Our hero is a military retiree turned contractor (the kind that takes on special tasks that aren't necessarily doable by the regular military), who is an expert pilot, collects cars and aircraft, and has a lot of friends in the right places.

He's been tasked to go after a specific target, but a member of the diplomatic corps may have been turned, converted to Islam and now plays for the other team. Now the target knows that a killer is coming his way.

There are some minor editing issues, places where commas were omitted, words left out, etc. For example, in conversation with the carrier captain, our intrepid pilot, Duncan Hunter, notes, "they don't let anyone be a captain of one of these things (paraphrased except for the first four words). Obviously it was meant to be "they don't let just anyone..." There are more sentences with lost words that leave either a sentence without purpose, or one that doesn't say the right thing.

Overall, however, the saga is a good one, and I look forward to more of Mr. Hewitt's work.

I very much liked this story. There is a lot going on and the Mark Hewitt has mixed fact with fiction to give the story substance. Duncan Hunter has an airplane he can take into an area where there are bad guys and take them ot without them hearing him coming seeing him there. He is sent to take out the man who has been holding our country for ransom to pay an annual fee to him or he with take commercial airplanes with passengers out of the sky. In the mean time Duncan's finance, Nazy Cunningham is sent ot Alergia as temporary station chief. They are attacked and she is kidnapped. Read the story to see how Duncan gets out of his situation and Nazy gets out of hers. Many interesting side storiesa going on at the same time.
