Description
When Tova discovers she’s allergic to her favorite bakery treats, she and her loving family whip up a recipe for resilience, creativity, and the sweetest kind of love.
A Junior Library Guild Gold Selection Title
Tova’s Sweet Solution is a heartfelt and deliciously sweet story about creativity, resilience, and the magic of family. Tova loves everything about her family’s bakery—the warmth, the smells, the cinnalove scones.
But when a painful tummy ache leads to an unexpected allergy diagnosis, Tova learns she can no longer enjoy her favorite treats made with honeygrain. Crushed but determined, Tova’s family rallies around her with hugs, songs, and a whole lot of “bakestorming.”
But none of their new recipes taste quite right . . . until Tova and her squirrel sidekick, Biscuit, stumble upon a surprise ingredient that leads to the Toviest Tova-size idea ever! Bursting with playful language, cozy charm, and a dash of culinary creativity, this story celebrates perseverance, problem-solving, and the loving support of a family that always bakes together—no matter what.
Perfect for readers who love baking, bold ideas, and stories that fill both the heart and tummy with joy.

Thank you Publishers Spotlight and Melissa Taylor for this ARC!
Tova and her family are adorable bears, and the story and its ingredients are fantastical. I love the illustrations and I think children will too!
I think the story lacks a little something special because I got a little lost in the make believe words and ingredients. There is a sweet message of helping coming from family, friends, and yourself and I think kiddos with tummy troubles will appreciate Tova bear.
Tova's Sweet Solution is an instant classic that is as heartwarming as it is delicious! This charming story perfectly blends a meaningful message about navigating food allergies with a whimsical, creative journey. When Tova has to give up her favorite treats, her resilience and "bakestorming" with her family show young readers how to find joy and solutions even when facing tough changes.
The playful language (cinnalove! chocomint!) and absolutely adorable illustrations make it a joy to read aloud. It’s a wonderful, cozy, and inclusive book that belongs on every child's bookshelf. A perfect 5-star treat!
A fantastic book about food allergies, new ways of eating, and finding yummy solutions to food issues.
Tova has a new food allergy and unfortunately, it is the very thing that her family used daily in their bakery. Sad that she can no longer eat the sweet treats, Tova sets out to create something new [with the help of a very good friend] that she will both love AND will not make her tummy hurt.
Perfect for families with a new allergy/Celiac Disease diagnosis; littles will love seeing themselves in Tova's story and learning that just because you cannot eat something doesn't mean you will not find something even better! I wish this book had been around when I was first diagnosed!
Thank you to NetGalley, Melissa Taylor, Aurelie Lise-Anne - Illustrator, and Publisher's Spotlight/Red Comet Press for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Such a sweet, fun, cheery story. Delightful characters and illustrations. Poor Tova has a food allergy and a solution must be found. Highly recommend.
I was blessed with an ARC. Thank you NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.

I think this is a great book to read to kids who have allergies or intolerances and are learning to adapt to life without those foods. I loved how the whole family came together to find creative solutions for Tova to still have her sweet treats just without honeygrain.
Tova is from a family of baking bears. What will they do when they find out she's allergic to a common baking ingredient? This would be a great read aloud for younger kiddos who have food allergies. The illustrations are super detailed and my kids kept finding new surprises.
Thanks to Red Comet Press and NetGalley for an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
What a sweet book that looks into a child having a food allergy. The illustrations are really vibrant and beautiful too.
I loved that Tova works on figuring out an alternative that she can put in their baked goods.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC

I think this could be a great tool for parents to read to children that have food allergies to help them further understand. The illustrations are bright and super cute. I personally prefer in person books for kids aince it allows them to get more involved with reading.

Cute hopeful story. I liked the illustrations, especially the one of the owl doctor. The author was clever: instead of "brainstoming" it was called "bakestorming."
As a mom with kids that have multiple food allergies, I loved this story! The illustrations were adorable and the trail and error to find a edible solution is all to familiar lol.
Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC.
This is a beautifully illustrated children’s book about creativity, resilience, and the magic of family. I think this story would be great for children food allergies to read. I really liked the “bakestorming “ instead of brainstorming when the family worked together to come up with ideas of sweet treats that didn’t have honeygrain . The trial and error of finding the perfect replacement sweet treat is so relatable! I will say for me the story would have worked better with a slightly larger font, possibly bold and maybe in white instead of black. The nighttime scene with the white words worked so much more for me. Overall great book, and would most definitely recommend, and will keep an eye out to buy for my 4 year old nephew !

This book is seriously so sweet! Tova is a little bear cub who comes down with a food allergy, and her family bakes! They work hard to find a workaround for Tova's allergy, and eventually she finds a solution! As a mom to a kid with a food allergy, this was so cute to read to him and show him that there's always a way to eat and enjoy without worrying about food allergies.
This picture book has adorable illustrations and a sweet message. Tova loves everything about her family's bakery, but then she develops a food allergy and can't eat her favorite baked treats anymore. Her family supports her emotionally, and they work together to come up with possible ingredient substitutions. This book portrays common food intolerance experiences in a compassionate and relatable way, and the ending is sweet. This book will appeal to families going through similar struggles, and to people who enjoy cozy stories about baked goods and creativity.
