Loew and Golem fight evil. One is human; the other is not.

Legend says that Judah Loew, who lived in sixteenth-century Prague, created the Golem—an animate being fashioned from clay and brought to life through rituals and Hebrew incantations—to defend the Prague ghetto from attack.

Loew is not a mythical figure—nor, as it turns out, is the Golem. Supervised for the past five centuries by a succession of wise men and women—a council known as the Sanhedrin of Golem, or SaGe—the Golem has been defending humanity from evil. To do so effectively, he has always been paired with a human champion—an aluf.

Sylvester “Sy” Loew is the current aluf, and the two—Golem and human—fight nefarious entities known as AIs, often risking everything.

But now a new kind of evil has arisen, one never seen before. It, too, is an AI—but of a different kind: an artificial intelligence.
