The Reconciliation Roadmap gives you some guidance and a few landmarks as you seek to partner with God in the ongoing work of mending the brokenness of humanity. Following the Roadmap will enable you to build entirely new reconciled communities; communities of shalom; communities where nothing is broken and no one is missing.
This study can be read two ways. It should be read individually and in a small group setting. Church staff and small groups that value reconciliation. Doing this study in a group setting, you will be challenged to interact in community and individually you will be challenged to think about what you really believe. This struck home with me, as my state of Missouri has been in the news in Ferguson and most recently Missouri State University. It is interesting to see how others and especially Christians think about these issues. You may have thought this or know somebody that does but it calls you to answer "What is the problem and why can't we get along"? This really answered it for me and it surprised me with my own thinking as well. Along with the immigration issue in the news as well, we are not solving the problem by screaming go back to the border, or learn English. We must have a new perspective. We must desire healing. This is what this study does and it is so important for churches and any ministry that deals with inner city and immigration. We must not put a band aide on the problems but get to the root.
This is our calling is to make the kingdom of God visible on earth. Every time we bride racial, ethnic, gender and socioeconomic divides, we become prophetic witnesses to the reality of the kingdom of God. In small and big ways we give people glimpses of what the future vision looks like. This is our mission, and we must never lose hope, knowing that God has the power to bring the kingdom on earth as it is in heave. God has the power to bring shalom.
The only draw back I found in this read that this could be construed as a social gospel instead of the good news Gospel. Jesus crucified. That Jesus died for our sins and he reigns. We tend to want to do something good and not realize our very own need for salvation.
I recommend this read to understand reconciliation among all people and cultures.
