Description

In a town built on tradition, one pebble can shake the world.

Miriam Llewelyn came seeking a new beginning in Stuarts Landing—but the town had other plans. Caught between an unforgiving social hierarchy and a decades-old family secret, she must navigate rivalry, betrayal, and hidden histories that threaten to upend the lives of everyone she meets. As old wounds surface and loyalties are tested, Miriam discovers that true belonging comes not from fitting in, but from uncovering the past and embracing her own strength.

A Note From the Publisher

Suzanne Groves’ imagination became apparent at the age of four, when she unsuccessfully tried to introduce her parents to Jennifer Acclisphere, her invisible friend. An avid reader from the age of six, Suzanne went on to earn her B.A. in English from The University of Texas at Austin. She then embarked upon a successful 36-year marketing communications career, during which she received national and international awards for creative excellence. Now retired and the author of two non-fiction books and now, her debut novel, Suzanne currently writes women's upmarket fiction. When she's not writing, Suzanne likes to travel with her husband, fish, cook, spoil her German shepherd (and cat), and support other authors through her two critique groups.

Advance Praise

"In The Pebble in the Pond, Suzanne S. Groves creates a compelling array of characters who gradually and carefully reveal the many layers of Miriam’s personality. Throughout the story, facets of her character continue to unfold, making her authentic and deeply complex. It's like watching a friend slowly bloom and grow. Just when you think you finally understand her, she reveals something delightful and unexpectedly new, prompting you to quietly wonder. Groves vividly depicts what life was like living in the 1920s, especially for unwed women facing socially compromising situations, an era when such circumstances were met with shame, silence, and exile. [...] Ultimately, this story inspires and explores what it truly means to come home to yourself and find a place where you belong. I highly recommend this book to readers who love wholesome narratives that quietly unfold while leaving a lasting impression." - Reader's Favorite
