Description

Anna and Mark are a young couple from Wollongong, Australia, whose lives take an unexpected turn after watching a documentary on orphaned children. Moved to act, they endure Australia’s exasperating adoption system before deciding there must be another way.

Their search for a meaningful life – and children who need a home – takes them to Tanzania, where they settle beneath Mt Kilimanjaro with their two children, Jackson and Jemima.

In Moshi, they discover Forever Angels Baby Home, a sanctuary for babies in crisis. There, Anna meets premature twins restored to health and learns they have an older brother, malnourished and near death. Anna and Mark say yes to all three. Suddenly, their family grows to five young children under five, and their days become a whirlwind of nappies, monkeys in the backyard, unreliable power, and the shadow of Africa’s highest peak.

For years, they battled Tanzanian bureaucracy, fearing they might lose the children they’ve come to love. Against the odds, and with a lot of prayer and faith, they secure the adoption, climb Kilimanjaro, and return to Australia with a story that inspires.

But the faces of the many children left behind linger. From that ache comes Forever Projects, acharity supporting Tanzanian families in crisis so that babies can stay with their mothers at home, forever.

A tale of one family’s extraordinary journey across continents, and the legacy it has borne.

Advance Praise

"I highly recommend Anna Dombkins’ book to understand the nuances and complexities of finding ‘Forever’ homes for the world’s most vulnerable citizens. It shines a light on the fact that we can all make a difference, no matter how large or small. Everyone is climbing a mountain, and how much easier that climb is when we do it together."

Deborra-Lee Furness

"An inspiring origin story is a foundation for scalable impact. I've seen firsthand how Anna and Mark have turned love, perseverance, and lessons from their own journey into Forever Projects. Home, Forever captures their story powerfully and reminds us that hope is something we carry, share, and act on. If you’re looking for inspiration that sparks real change, this book is for you."
