I love a psychological thriller. I want to be strapped into my chair in the first chapter, ready for the twists and turns. I like when the author pulls me into the story as if I was one of her characters. This story did not disappoint me. Loved it!

Flynn Berry has crafted a very fast paced and fun political esque thriller. I have never read any of her work so I was pleasantly surprised. A super fun and very quick read!

A Good Man on a Dark Night — another high quality novel by author Flynn Berry. I liked Northern Spy and I REALLY loved A Double Life. Berry manages to weave life’s mundanities with stressful, high-stakes situations that are so tense and gripping that you have no choice but to keep reading. Let me tell you that I was STRESSINGGG towards the end of the book. I’m seeing some criticism on the ending but I thought everything wrapped up fairly nicely. If you’re in the market for a quick espionage read, where any of the characters could easily be the bad guy, this may be for you.

This was my first book from this amazingly talented author and it will not be my last!! I LOVE the way this author writes and captivates your attention! This is a thriller you do not want to miss!!! Praying there is another book to come!

An intense, fast-paced thriller that had me hooked from the very first chapter. The twists were expertly crafted, and I never saw the ending coming. A must-read!

Goverment Spy thriller takes place in Washintgon D.C. with a private nurse spying on one of her patients, suspected of espionage,  only to uncover a deadly conspiracy that reaches far beyond anything she imagined. With loyalties shifting and danger closing in, she must risk everything.

This book had me completely hooked. I was constantly questioning who could be trusted and felt the tension with every chapter. I was deeply invested in Eleanor's impossible choices, and the emotional depth paired with the gripping suspense kept me racing through the pages.

If you like sophisticated, fast-paced political intrigue stories, Flynn Berry’s latest is the one for you. From the moment Eleanor is approached by Charles under the guise of helping her country, the action never stops.

Flynn Berry’s writing has always been spare in her other books and this one is even more so. If anything, this reader wishes the story went on just a little bit longer. Highly recommend!

A Good Man on a Dark Night
This one got under my skin in a way I wasn’t expecting, I’m still thinking about it two weeks later. There’s a slow-creep authoritarian thing happening in the background, and the author doesn’t name names. It’s just a pattern of small things being accepted, one after another, until you realize how far things have slid. Five years ago I’d have read this as a stretch. Now it just feels close, or maybe already happening.
The heart of it is Eleanor, an ordinary person who ends up doing something brave, willing-to-risk-something brave, and the book doesn’t let that be free. Her choices look to cost her close to home.
Where it gets interesting is the ending, which splits in two directions. On the personal side, it’s very much a thriller doing thriller things, reunion, homecoming, even the dog makes it back. Comforting, a little tidy, exactly what you’d expect from the genre. But zoom out, and the bigger picture is more hopeful than tidy: things start to come to light, people start being held accountable, society starts to wake up a bit. It’s not “everything’s fixed,” but there’s a real sense that it’s heading somewhere better.
Part of me wanted the ending to sit in the dread a little longer, the first two-thirds of this book are so good at making you uneasy that the hopeful turn feels like a bit of a release valve. But I also can’t say I minded getting it. This book put a real, specific kind of free-floating dread in me, the “could this be me” kind, and by the end I was glad for a little air.
