April 1980. A bank robbery is coming. Nobody in Cordero is ready for it.
Tony Gonzalez never planned to raise his younger brother. But when Joey has nowhere else to go, Tony takes him in—and pulls him into Nate’s orbit: a desert compound built on guns, weed, and apocalyptic dreams.
Just down the road, Katie Harrison is desperate to get out of Cordero. Tony wants the same thing. Together, they may have one shot at escape—if Tony can keep Joey alive long enough.
For fans of Elmore Leonard, Don Winslow, and S. E. Hinton, Cordero is a lean California noir—fast, immersive, and unforgiving.

I really enjoyed reading this. The twist at the end I did not see coming. I could not put it down. I loved the storyline, the character buildup, some parts even had me laughing.

This was a really solid and engaging read. I liked the tone and how the story slowly built up tension without feeling rushed. The writing was easy to follow but still had depth, and it kept me interested the whole way through. It’s one of those books that pulls you in bit by bit and keeps you turning pages. Overall, a really enjoyable read.
