Description
A stunningly illustrated picture book for children ages 3-7, inspired by the nursery rhyme "The House That Jack Built," where a community of forest animals comes together to rebuild after a storm and, in doing so, discovers the magic of belonging, hope, and working together.
One day, a terrible storm rips through the forest, destroying everything in its path. Nests have been flattened, trees are broken, and burrows are flooded. The animals feel sad and discouraged— until, one by one, they take small steps to rebuild their home. An inspiring story of hope, community, and working together, inspired by the nursery rhyme "The House That Jack Built."

First of all, the illustrations are STUNNING. I love that they truly help to bring the story to life. When storms come and things are going wrong, it's important to know who your friends are and who you can depend on to help. The animals in this story were facing some big challenges but they worked together and overcame the trials. Kids will love seeing the animals work together and this would be a great conversation starter about friendship and perseverance.

That adorable cover is truly impossible to resist. It instantly draws readers into a warm, whimsical world filled with curiosity and charm.
This charming story celebrates the beauty and diversity of nature while showing how forest animals respond when the weather suddenly changes. After a heavy rainstorm, a variety of woodland creatures must work together to navigate the challenges that follow. The book opens with a slightly dramatic tone, then gently shifts into a hopeful rhythm with a meaningful moral about unity and kindness.
There are many rich topics to explore with young readers: weather patterns, animals sharing a habitat, teamwork, and the interconnectedness of nature. The watercolor style illustrations are especially lovely, adding softness and movement to each scene.
What shines the brightest is the inspiring message that teamwork has the power to shape a better, more harmonious world. The animals’ teamwork models empathy, problem solving, and respect for each other, A wonderful read aloud for classes beginning units on weather, animals, or environmental care, as well as for any child who simply loves animals.
Highly recommended!

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of this ebook.
First off, the illustrations of this book are beautiful and have a whimsical feel about them.
This book is cute and reminds me of the book This is the Dress I'll Wear to The Party that I read when I was a kid.
It is fast paced and easy to follow. It gives a message of friendship and contributions to a common goal. It is also about kindness which is always a good theme to have in kids books.

Beautifully illustrated. Heartwarming story about community. The suggested age for this book is listed as 3-7 but I think it would even be great for the 2yo set because there are some repeating phrases that are so great for early speakers.

I read this book with my 4- and 8-year-old granddaughters, and we all really enjoyed the message behind it. The story does a wonderful job showing how a community can come together to rebuild and support one another during difficult times. It also highlights the idea that what one person sees as trash, someone else may see as treasure. I loved the reminder that broken things—and sometimes broken people—can still be rebuilt into something meaningful and beautiful.
The story itself was definitely the strongest part for me. The illustrations were cute and fit the tone of the book, although I do think the artwork could have been a little more polished overall. Still, it was an enjoyable read with a thoughtful message, and one I’m glad we shared together. Overall, I’d give it 3 stars.

I like the story, but felt the illustrations weren't really for me. I also found the writing style that was both crooked and shaped like handwriting to be a little harder for struggling readers to follow which is kind of a down point for me because there are so many little struggling readers right now.
