A solid 4 step guide on how to draw a handful of dinosaurs for kids. More of a book for kids in elementary school or with slightly advanced drawing skills. But overall kids love dinosaurs so I think this would be a good nonfiction addition to a library.
5/5 stars.
Not only is this educational, it also works! I am very drawing challenged, and I was able to follow along with this enough to understand and *basically* successfully draw these dinosaurs!

My daughter loves to improve her drawings and she always loved dinosaurs. I thought this book to be a good fit. The book it self has a good build. Every dinosaur takes around 6-7 pages. It contains 2 small facts and how to draw. Always start with shapes and make it more detailed. It is a good book and she loves trying them.
I would like to thank the author and Netgalley for sharing the ebook with me.
Who doesn't love dinosaurs?!
This book is a great drawing book for all ages, showing the steps to drawing the fearsome classics - Trex, Velociraptor, Stegosaurus, Diplodocus and more - from blocky shapes where you can play with proportions to the finished product coloured and highlighted.
There's not a lot of explanation about perspective and proportions, but its a great jumping off point for beginner artists and dino-fans to learn how to draw their favourite prehistoric animals beyong a basic stick figure.
And once you've got the basics down for the classic dinos, you can use these as a launchpad for other dinosaurs. This will be a lot of fun come Dinovember....

I love the concept of this book. I draw lunch box notes for my son during the school year and am always looking for step by step drawing instructions to help me. I enjoyed how this book breaks it down with simple boxes to start out. It makes the shape much more manageable. Thank you NetGalley!

A shorter book of how to draw several popular dinosaurs.
I wish there had been a few more steps in each how-to, or perhaps a section before the official drawings begin, detailing how to do things like shading and how it works, or how to smooth out the lines. The book tells you to do these things and shows an image of it done, but does not tell you how. While I, an adult, know how to do these things, a young child might not.
Despite this, the drawings look great! Each dinosaur is carefully crafted b ythe artist. Each comes with information about the dinosaur itself as well.

Love this how to draw book about dinosaurs. The steps are clear enough for a child who has some experience drawing. The dinosaurs become more detailed as each step progresses along with color ideas to finish. Great instructional guide!

While I got quite a few good dinosaur drawings out of “drawing dinosaurs” by Derrick Richard’s, I feel like it could have been a bit more simplified. If you’re very new to art, this might not be the dinosaur drawing book to pick up, but if you have the basics down already, it’s a good show of what to do to get what you want! Which is obviously, dinosaurs!!
