Description

A 109 year old wealthy widow with buried secrets. A nosey journalist with a burning 🔥 desire to dig them up.

Inspired by a true event in the authors own family history, this story takes us back to the early morning of June 03, 1975 when shots rang out from the estate of the oldest and wealthiest sugarcane heir in the state of Louisiana, Addison Devereux. Someone had been digging. Asking too many questions. Unearthing things that were meant to remain buried. When all was said and done, local journalist Marvin Descant was found dead with a hole blasted right through the middle of his torso. But, who would do such a thing and why?

Fast forward to April 2023, Remington Robichaux, a fifty nine year old Creole woman living in Marshall, Texas decided to revisit her deep southern roots through the retelling of her ancestry rooted in Butterville. She shares the history with her six year old granddaughter, except it's not such a straight forward story.

You see Butterville is the only place in the whole state of Louisiana where there's an ol' locomotive that runs backwards through the town, and its been that way for over 128 years. They say nobody knows why it was like that. But someone knew. Addi knew.
