Kader’s Quest, written by Yener and Duygu Balan, is a visually arresting and emotionally resonant journey that stands out primarily for its excellent, unique artistic style, which immediately pulls readers into the story’s distinct atmosphere. The narrative manages to convey meaningful themes with clarity and heart, effectively capturing the reader's imagination from the first page. However, the experience may feel a tad bit short for some, as the pacing leaves the reader wishing for a deeper exploration of the world and characters presented. Despite this brevity, the book’s aesthetic impact and thoughtful message make it a memorable read, offering a creative and stylish narrative that, while concise, successfully leaves a lasting impression.

I am glad I have now been introduced to all three Balan's work. They all sound brilliant at what they do.

Kader's Quest features a young boy figuring out his home and social life, and that is pretty much already everything you need about the story. More eye-catching is the beautiful art; each panel could be a story in itself, and invites the reader to pause and ponder.
The latter is the comic's true hook: a reflective moment to open up conversations. This work, created by writers with a background in psychotherapy and psychiatry, is intended as a clinical resource for working with children, and the comic is well-fitted to that, especially considering its short length.

It is a perfect fit for its specialization. My only complaint is that I kept confusing elderly women for middle-aged ones. Thanks to NetGalley and Routledge for an ARC for an honest review.
