P T Lacy really knows how to build a high-stakes, gritty environment, and Unforgiven is a fantastic showcase of that talent. If you enjoyed the tension and unique world-building of Unregistered, this book steps up the game by taking us even deeper into the dark, complex mechanics of power, control, and survival. It beautifully blends urban speculative elements with a fast-paced thriller plot, focusing on characters who are pushed to their absolute limits in a society that leaves very little room for error.
What makes this a strong four-star read is how well the character dynamics are handled. The tension between those trying to enforce order and those just trying to survive feels completely earned, and the narrative momentum keeps you turning pages late into the night.
