Advance Praise

"The Australian landscape simmers with menace in this tense, propulsive thriller. The characters are layered and complex, the plot satisfyingly twisty, and the devastating ripple effect of childhood trauma is handled with skill and sensitivity. This is outback noir with heart."

- Lisa Kenway, Winner of the 2025 Ned Kelly Award for All You Took From Me

"A gripping ride right to the end. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the story twists again. With a real outback Australian atmosphere, this will leave you thinking long after you close the last page."

A very good Australian, psychological and suspense filled drama which had me intrigued right from the start. Set in two different timescales, which worked really well, it was filled with atmosphere and emotions. I liked the relationship between Bella and Tilly, very realistic, believable characters. An exciting drama which I would recommend to lovers of thrillers. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

What an incredible Australian thriller from Louise Jourdan!

Reckonings had all of the makings of a good suspense thriller: intrigue, pacing, character development, and twists. The shifting of timelines and character POVs also kept the storyline exciting and the pacing quick. The story never felt dull, and the plot had constant momentum that kept my curiosity churning. While reading, I had a few questions and wasn't convinced on some of the plot lines, but that's because Louise hoodwinked me with some incredible twists at the end! I love when there twists that I don't even see coming!

One of the better aspects of the book was the character development; sometimes thrillers can remain fairly surface level, which is fine, but I also appreciate getting to know characters' backstories.

I really enjoyed this, and think it's much better than some of the thriller bestsellers out there. Thank you Louise for sending me a copy to review!
