This was a good book! The rhyming had my child giggling. It's good at what it is there for. To help a child learn to read.

Another week, another visit to the world of these phonetics reads, that may or may not include the Mat of the title. Here it very much features, as it wants to watch a cook with a book – a cookbook – in a nook, under a hook. Yes, it wants a look. Can you guess what word-ending we're dealing with here? Well, can you? Have you undertook to guess? It seemed to some extent that both the pages of the cookbook and of this book got into a slight muddle, until I saw what had happened, so this might not be the most immediately successful narrative of the series. Art remains perfunctory, but the text does cram the relevant words in as usual – but this is three and a half stars, as indication that others have been more fun.
