One of those hard to put down books. Finished it over two days. I have enjoyed the Peter James books from the start and they have all been a very enjoyable read. Highly recommended.

Omg what a read!! I was so excited to be back with Roy Grace and I was not disappointed! After the ending of the previous book I knew that this one was going to be a tense one and I was right!

We had a few different things going on in this one and it was really enjoyable seeing if and how they were going to interlink. We have a dead body, a brother and sister trying to claim their mother’s will back and a bomb in a hotel what more could we ask for! I always enjoy the fact that we know something that Grace doesn’t, so I love seeing how him and the team work it out.

As well as Grace our usual regular characters are there to keep some humour in things, especially Norman Potting and his ‘diet’ and Glenn Branson with his fashion! But it was also nice to see Cleo hosting the book event and feeling nervous about her speech as she often comes across as so confident when in her ‘work’ role.

As always it was brilliantly written by Peter James and I just love how such small details are key parts to the storylines. One top tip for when you’re reading it - remember to breathe! I feel like I was holding my breath a LOT at times whilst reading it.

This is another thrilling entry from Peter James in the Roy Grace series. Peter James is the best British police procedural author writing today and I absolutely loved this book. 

Albanian criminal Roel Albazi is determined to get revenge on Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, who put him in prison. His consigliere Dritan Dervishi checks into a specifically selected room in the Royal Courtney hotel in Brighton, and begins to enact a deadly plan. Will Roy Grace and his team get to the bottom of it in time? 

As always, the plot is carefully constructed, with multiple strands and subplots that eventually come together. The book is really good at building tension, right from the beginning. My mind immediately began considering where the story could go and all the bad and worrying things that could happen. So I found it very difficult to stop reading as I needed to know! 

These Roy Grace books are not whodunits; the story is told from the viewpoints of both the police and the criminals, which I really enjoy as an approach. There is always that moment when Roy and his team first identify a small clue that begins to point them in the right direction, that the reader already knows, and I always find that immensely satisfying.

The author is a stickler for correct police procedure. However, he never lets this become boring or slow down the story. On the contrary, it can provide a fascinating insight into how modern policing works. In this story, digital forensics plays a key role. 

I definitely recommend this book. Even if you haven't tried the Roy Grace series yet, or maybe only seen it on TV, you can start here.
