Description

For fourteen seconds, Anaïs was dead. The Hive brought her back because assets do not have permission to retire.

In 2063, every citizen is watched and scored. That score determines the life they are permitted to live. The body is no longer private property. Anaïs enforces that order. Rebuilt from human consciousness and synthetic architecture, she was designed for absolute obedience. The Hive keeps her alive, regulating her body and speaking to her from within. The memory of her death should have been erased.

But the memory is returning. So are the human casualties hidden beneath the State’s clean data. When Anaïs begins to feel what she was designed to ignore, the Hive marks her empathy as a fault and prepares to correct it.

The resistance sees an opening. They believe the technology inside Anaïs can give them access to the system controlling them. They offer her freedom, but only if she agrees to become their weapon first.

As the State moves to reclaim her, Anaïs must decide whether freedom is possible when her survival depends on the system she is trying to escape.

FOR READERS OF: Black Mirror, Severance, Altered Carbon, and Nexus. NØT NØW is a dark near-future dystopian thriller about behavioural control, bodily autonomy, and the cost of reclaiming a body the State considers its property.

NOT NOW was an intriguing and thought-provoking read that immediately captured my attention. The pacing kept things moving while still giving readers plenty to think about along the way.

The author created compelling characters and an engaging story that remained entertaining throughout. It's a unique read that stands out in its own way.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance review copy
