Description

This book can be read as a standalone, although it is recommended to read Of Fae and Wicked Kings first. Of Fae and Wicked Kings is free with Audible Plus and is roughly 2 hours long. This sequel is an enemies to lovers dark romantasy with morally gray fae, unhinged villains, slow burn with sizzling tension, and the he falls first and touch her and die tropes.

A fake engagement, a threat in the shadows, and an obsessive suitor. This wasn’t what I signed up for….

A few short weeks ago, Gwyndolin was liberated from Lord Valen’s estate, and the Unseelie high king who freed her now owns her. Unless she can pull off this fake engagement and live with him for a year, he will let his people continue their assaults on hers.

Talk about sacrifice.

But this morally gray, violence-prone king won’t let her fall, not when he’s already fallen for her.

Enemies lurk in the shadows, and unseen villains threaten everything they’ve worked toward. Both love and betrayal come from the most unlikely places in this heart-stopping, enemies-to-lovers fae romantasy. Will love be enough to save them, or will it be their doom?

It is recommended (but not required) to read Of Fae and Wicked Kings before this. There will be spoilers for Of Fae and Wicked Kings if you read this first.

Thank you Netgally for the ALC!

All the narrators are absolutely perfect. I couldnt get enough. The plot was exciting and kept me intrigued and the characters were either relatable, likeable, or easy to hate! 😂 Definitely a 10 star listen

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance listening copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book completely swept me away. Of Thrones and Savage Things had everything I love in a fantasy romance…. high stakes, compelling characters, incredible tension, and a world that kept me hooked from beginning to end. Every chapter left me wanting "just one more," and before I knew it, I had finished the entire audiobook.

The duet narration absolutely elevated the experience. The narrators brought so much emotion and personality to every scene that it felt like I was watching the story unfold rather than simply listening to it. Their performances made the banter sharper, the emotional moments more impactful, and the chemistry impossible to ignore.

If you're an audiobook fan, I can't recommend this format enough. Between the fantastic story and the phenomenal duet narration, this was an easy five-star listen for me. I already can't wait for the next book!

Jada has quickly become one of my favorite authors! Book 2 of her Wicked Fae series was everything I wanted & more after book one’s cliffhanger! Book 1 is currently free to all Audible premium subscribers, by the way. The enemies to lovers arc of Gwen & Aspen is the perfect mix of tension, desire, & laugh out loud banter. Don’t get me started on Aspen’s identical twin brother, Aethryn! I love me some twin moments! Two hotties aside, Aethryn is a super lovable character who I hope to see more of. Maybe a spin off of his own? Just spitballing here, Jada :P

The narration totally blew my mind! One of the most well done duet narrations I have ever listened to! The collaboration of sensational vocal performances creates a truly immersive experience very much like a full-cast production. I will definitely be on the lookout for all four narrators.

Can’t wait for book 3! Definitely don’t miss out on this thrilling series!

Side note: I originally tried as a standalone, but felt lost and decided I wanted content & clarity. Without book 1 Rowan‘s character arc, a major plot twist is completely missed, which I felt was a critical to my understanding of Rowan as the villain in book 2.

This review will run on Instagram as a collaboration post Friday, August 7th (@audiobookish_ ). I will add the url as soon as the post is published.

“I am no longer in a love triangle, and it has quickly gone from a love square to a love pentagon. What’s next? A multifaceted diamond of men? This has to stop.”

Ok Gwyn, I see you, girl.

I adored the first book in this series, so when I saw the 2nd one on audio, I had to request it! And I am so glad I did! This was everything I needed, and I stayed up to finish this in one day! Enemies to lovers, fae royalty, political scheming, and an amazing cast of narrators- yes. Perfection. I ate it up with a giant spoon!! And honestly, I could go for seconds.

We start off with Gwyn in a bargain with the Unseelie king in a fake engagement ruse. Well, I should have known how this would go, but there were so many monkey wrenches tossed in, I couldn’t see the forest for the unlimited amount of fae suitors lining up to snatch our girl away.

Agh! I loved it so much. I’ve had a rough time of it lately, and this was the absolute perfect, fun, fast-paced romantic fae romantasy I needed. I loved Gwyn, but Aspen sparked my attention in book one, and my guy did not disappoint.

The audiobook: 6 stars - an amazing cast of narrators, they were all perfect and kept the story steaming ahead, sucking you right in.

I absolutely recommend this series!! It’s the perfect escape. I will definitely be checking out the 3rd book in the series and other works by this author.

The Tropes:
🩵 Morally gray MMC
🩵 Enemies to lovers
🩵 He falls first
🩵 Fake engagement
🩵 Fae Royalty x human
🩵 Touch her and perish

Don’t mind me, just still swooning over this:

He drops to his knees on the floor, his hand never leaving mine. “I am yours, my queen. Eternally. Irrevocably. Undeniably. From now until the moment my heart stops beating, I belong to you as much as you belong to me.”

After falling deep, deeply in love with the novella Of Fae and Wicked Kings, I desperately wished it had been a full-length novel. That was it's only flaw, if we can even call it a flaw.

Because really, the setup was flawless. I just I wanted more. More time in the fae world, more time with these characters, more time for the tension to build! Especially the latter.

And then came Of Thrones and Savage Things, and it gave me exactly all that and then some. Jada McCrary, the yearning queen you are, thank you.

Of Thrones and Savage Things is everything I loved about the first story, but with the space to actually let it breathe and grow into the romantic masterpiece I knew thier story would be. The relationship between Gwyndolin and Aspen becomes something so much more than the tension that first drew me in.

And the yearning. THE YEARNING.

I spent so much of this book internally screaming, “JUST KISS ALREADY!” only to reach the moments where I thought they might finally give in and immediately found myself thinking, “Wait... No... NOT YET!” Because as much as I wanted that kiss, I didn't want to lose the anticipation either.

That constant push and pull is exactly what I love the most about a slow burn, and Jada McCrary absolutely delivered.

Aspen is still an arrogant and dangerous Fae king who I couldn't help but fall for in Of Fae and Wicked Kings. But getting to spend an entire novel in his head gave me the chance to see the depth beneath his dangerous facade. His feelings for Gwyndolin aren't just attraction, no... they are pure devotion.

And that is really what made this book work so well for me. The romance wasn't just about finally getting to a kiss, it was about everything that came before it. The glances. The restraint. The tension. The flirting. The moments where you know exactly what these two are thinking even when they aren't ready to say it. Or, they will finally say it and still wont kiss... it's painfully perfect to read.

-AUDIOBOOK-
The audiobook was another huge part of my overall amazing experience. With four narrators, Grace Noble, Gregory Salinas, Anthony Palmini, and Ben Hall, each character was brought to life.

I reread and listened to Of Fae and Wicked Kings before diving into this one, which was such a good decision. It made returning to these characters and this world feel even better.

I have to give a special shoutout to the narrator who voices Rowan. The exact moment I got the ick from Rowan in the first book, I got the ick all over again during my reread. And then, listening to him throughout Of Thrones and Savage Things, Rowan continued to be so incredibly annoying, which is a testament to just how well the narrator brought his character to life.

All four narrators brought so much emotion to the story. The audiobook really added another layer to an already immersive story and it made the yearning even more addictive. I never wanted to stop listening.

This is exactly the kind of romance I love to get completely lost in.

Thank You NetGalley and Jada McCrary for the ALC.

First of all I must say this audiobook is excellent! The narrators are top tier. You have a full cast narration with Grace Noble as Gwyn, Gregory Salinas as Aspen/Vesper, Anthony Palmini as Rowan, and Ben Hall as Aethryn. I am a huge fan of Salinas so this was quite a treat!

The story here is fast paced, a low spice Romantasy with a love triangle, banter and action all the way. Gwyn is a strong FMC and I truly enjoyed her development. The triangle is not really the main aspect of the book as it’s really all about Aspen and Gwyn’s romance. Aspen has fallen hard for her and I love how devoted he is.

There is a lot of world building and the story is constantly developing as you read. There are many things happening and not everything is quite what it seems! You will be enthralled with the storytelling and the characters relationships.
