It’s rare for me to find a book that gets finished in pretty much one sitting, but this was one of those rare gems.
The story of a group of friends that go on a skiing holiday together, but there’s a lot of past between them all, and with a thriller set on a ski resort you know that things aren’t going to be simple or friendly.
With a few trips of reminiscing into the past, this is a captivating story of how a wrong or two in the past can really come back to bite you in the bum.
If you like a good thriller with really likeable characters then this is for you

I love Rachel's books. I got super excited when I saw this because she released one not that long ago. This group of friends reunites after years of silence. Of course, you know when these reunions take place, someone always wants revenge! But it's not the person you thought. Or for the reason you thought! Great suspense and twists! Powered through it!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

4 uni friends and two partners haven’t been together for years. One of the group is now a famous actress, and invites them all on the skiing trip of a lifetime. While there they remember their friend who died after their graduation party. With accidents on the slopes, and many old secrets threatening to spill, who of the group will do anything to keep them including murder?

This was so good. With flashbacks to the uni days and chapters form all the group. I really enjoyed it. Vivid descriptions of skiing, and hazy memories of uni nights, I could always picture the situation the characters were in. With various red herrings along the way, I definitely suspected most of the group at times. The final reveal was shocking and unexpected but very exciting to read things unfolding in real time.
I personally would have enjoyed the end chapter to be have had more on ‘what they did next’ but the authors choice has left me wanting more-a great way to end. Highly recommend.

This pulled me in from page 1. A tense and atmospheric thriller that lasts until the final reveal.
Four Uni friends with two of their partners are invited to spend a weekend at a ski resort in Norway.
Sophie disappeared from their lives six years ago, but now she wants to spend time with them, catching up and remembering their friend Anna.
This is told from multiple pov as we go back and forth from their graduation from Cambridge to now.
This is full of red herrings, and there are plenty of twists to keep you gripped.
I loved how the weather closed in as we got nearer to the reveal, adding to the tension.
A quick and enjoyable read. I think this is my favourite of Rachel's books.
Thanks to Aria and Aries for the invitation to read this ARC return for an honest review.

Rachel writes that closing in feeling so well. ive been lucky enough to read her other books and she is right in her line of the kind of books she writes and better still the ones i love to read.
this one once again brings the locked in, claustrophobic and increasing unease to full force. it creeps off the pages to you. but as always there is clever and far more going on with the story line and its all pieced together bit by bit for the characters and also for us as an audience. Rachel doesn't just do things for effect. she puts together a group of people with a story line that tracks. a story line that feels like it makes sense and isn't just tick boxing for twists or shock value. and i dont know how she does it but once again im left with such a smug smile as i finally reached those last pages. smug because once again Rachel has given the gift of a fab read.
what could possibly go wrong with a group of friends who have a past, a past that changed everything. and so when said friends all come together again, in a luxury chalet, then cut off from the rest of the world? yeh, sure, what could possibly go wrong? and its here i feel like going "mwhahahaha" line.
i love how we meet the group when everything seems so promising. they are those young and enthusiastic ages where when you find your gang you tell yourself this is you and them for life, that you will go onwards to your new futures but still be "the group". but then this is shattered by one night that changed it all. this night means they beak apart and its never spoken of again. but we do also then see how this night will go on to effect them all.
then we sweep seamlessly into the now part. and Sophie is a rising star. and so does the extremely sensible thing of organising a reunion in a remote location. hmmmmmm.
everything crackles from there. the whole group feel like they are walking through the stickiness of their past, of their now, of what went on in between. and i dont mean that in a pleasant way. Rachel captures that tension and unspoken but obvious feeling that is practically bouncing from the walls.
so when things do indeed start to happen, when accidents occur, well, we all knew it was coming but just how is what is to come.
i felt both the dread for the characters in what i knew must be coming but also the dread as if i was one of them waiting for it to happen! Rachel does so brilliantly at getting you into the thick of it, you can feel the emotions swirling, you can feel all the unsaid somehow feeling very much said in every move people make. but what and who is causing what comes next is still the books greatest element.
if the ship is sinking do any bonds go out the window?
is this about individual secrets or so much more?
does this go back to what happened to one of them all those years ago?
the clever way in which Rachel makes me suspect every single one of the group had me pulled in more and more. i had to finish this book. i had to know the reveal. and it was sooooo satisfying when all was revealed. i never saw it coming and yet it made total sense.
the multi pov and back and forth only added to the deliciousness with which we get our info and character knowledge.
the red herring were smart not forced for red herrings sake.
this book had me sat and needing to read just one more chapter. until i then realised there was no way i was going to bed until i knew how this would all play out. hens its 1am now and the house has already gone to bed.

This is a fast paced dual timeline story with plenty of twists and turns.

Five university friends get together for a ski holiday along with Megan’s boyfriend. They suffered a trauma during the last day of uni and the group splintered.

Fast forward ten years and Sophie wants to find out what really happened, but someone is keeping a secret and will do anything to keep the truth buried.

"The Ski Weekend" is an exciting destination thriller that takes you on an unforgettable adventure amidst the gorgeous snowy slopes of Norway. The story revolves around four friends and their two partners who haven’t seen each other in nearly six years. It all starts with Sophie, a friend who’s now a well-known actress. She surprises everyone with an amazing invitation for an all-expenses-paid ski trip, promising a fabulous reunion filled with fun and laughter. But things don’t go quite as planned, leading to a whirlwind of unexpected surprises.

The author does a fantastic job of bringing this story to life through flashbacks that take us back to the friends’ university days. These snippets of their past truly help us connect with the characters and see how their history shapes their current friendships.

While the book begins with a slower pace—something I’ve noticed in the author’s previous novels—it eventually picks up momentum and becomes super engaging. There was a point where I simply could not put it down; I was fully drawn into the story!

The descriptions of the stunning scenery are a real treat. I could almost feel that refreshing, chilly mountain air and hear the playful laughter of skiers. It’s like the beautiful Norwegian landscape jumps off the page and wraps you in its winter wonder.

The characters are a diverse bunch, each with their own quirks and backgrounds. At first, I wasn’t a fan of some of them; they seemed a bit hard to warm up to. But as the story progressed, I began to appreciate their journey and found myself rooting for them as they navigated their struggles and rediscovered their bonds.

There are plenty of twists and turns throughout the story that keep you guessing! Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the author threw in some surprises that completely caught me off guard. The ending was a delightful shock that I never saw coming!

All in all, this book is another wonderful read from Rachel Wolf. If you’re looking for a fun and thrilling winter escape that’s packed with adventure, I wholeheartedly recommend adding "The Ski Weekend" to your TBR list.

I loved this glamourous and tense destination thriller from Rachel Wolf, set in a luxury ski chalet in the freezing Norweigan mountains.

When Sophie, a film star, invites her university friends on an all expenses paid skiing trip in Norway after years of silence, none of them can resist going. The last night they spent together ended in tragedy, and the memories have haunted them all since. But as accidents start to happen on the secluded mountain, questions about what really happened on graduation night start rising to the surface and they all start to wonder how well they really know each other.

The Ski Weekend was dripping with tension and kept me turning the pages fast. I loved the characters, the suspician and the mystery that only ramped up as more and more secrets were revealed. With the unpredictable Norweigan mountains set against unreliable memories of their time in Cambridge, nothing is certain. The freezing snowscapes were a perfect backdrop for the increasingly heated atmosphere between the friends, only adding to the sense of danger as the weather trapped them in wide open spaces where not even the ground was solid.

If you love your thrillers twisty and wild with plenty of dark atomphere you will love The Ski Weekend. It’s a fabulously gripping and immersive read and I loved every minute of it.

A group of friends get together for a ski weekend 6 years after graduation. They haven’t met for years, having been devastated by Anna’s death that night. The story unfolds over two time lines, the ski weekend and the graduation night. I have read several books with a similar plot, friends reuniting after a tragic or traumatic childhood but this book is in a different league completely. The plot is tight and moves quickly, the descriptions of their lavish weekend are great, and each character is distinct in their own way. It is tense from start to finish, kept me awake till the early hours. I definitely recommend it, though it might put readers off going on a skiing holiday!

BRB, just going to buy Rachel Wolf’s backlog because this book was insanely good!

In The Ski Weekend, we see a friend group reunited after 6 years to catch up and have a lovely skiing trip. But when the host wants to try to uncover her lost memories of the suspicious death of an old member of the group, it brings up bad feelings and potentially lethal consequences.

I’ve been getting back into my mystery thrillers recently, and this one has really got me sold on digging some more out of my shelves. I have been in a bit of a slump, but I found myself binging this read on a Sunday afternoon and was eager to pick it up again as soon as possible!

It was very easy to follow, even with three timelines, and the narrative flowed nicely. There was constant intrigue and chapter cliffhangers that had me reading on and on. The writing was done so well that I could fully envision everything, and it made me fully invested in this mystery. It not only tackled the mystery element, but also the idea of friendship changing over time (becoming a parent, finding new partners, career choices) and how that affected the group dynamic.

The dynamics of the friendship group were done well – With it showing a clear love between them all, but still the dysfunction of a young adult group. You got to see how wonderful these people were, but also their imperfections and complicated past. It made the story very believable. My favourite characters were Cassie and Adam – especially Adam’s tough love.

I recommend this read if you want a good winter-feeling thriller that you can binge in a weekend – This will not let you down! This is an author I’m looking forward to reading the backlog of and seeing any future releases.

A luxury ski chalet in the Norwegian mountains. A group of old university friends. A tragic secret from the past. And a snowstorm that leaves them trapped together with nowhere to hide. What could possibly go wrong? ❄️

I do love a good locked-room mystery, and The Ski Weekend has all the ingredients for a gripping winter thriller.

Years after a devastating incident on their graduation night at Cambridge, a group of former friends are reunited when Sophie, now a Hollywood star, invites them to an all-expenses-paid weekend at a remote luxury chalet in Norway. But old wounds haven’t healed, and as a brutal snowstorm closes in and a series of suspicious accidents unfolds, it becomes increasingly clear that someone knows more than they’re letting on.

Wolf makes excellent use of the isolated setting. The freezing Norwegian landscape, the luxurious but claustrophobic chalet, and the growing sense that no one can be trusted create a wonderfully tense atmosphere. There’s something about a group of people trapped together with secrets they’d rather keep buried that makes for such addictive reading.

The story moves between the present-day reunion and the group’s university years in Cambridge, gradually revealing what happened on that fateful graduation night. I particularly enjoyed how the shifting timelines added layers to the mystery, with each new revelation making me reconsider who might be telling the truth.

It’s a slow burn initially, taking time to establish the complicated friendships, old resentments and buried secrets. A few developments felt familiar, and I would have liked a little more depth from some of the characters, but once the pace picked up in the second half, I found it difficult to put down.

Overall, a tense, twisty and wonderfully atmospheric destination thriller. Perfect for fans of locked-room mysteries, complicated friendships and dark secrets that refuse to stay buried.

A solid four-star read - and one best enjoyed somewhere warm and cosy! 🔥

WOW! if you want a great thriller to keep you busy during your holiday, buy this one! I loved it. A group of old college friends reunite after having totally distanced from each other for a few years, for a ski weekend in a luxury, isolated chalet, organized for them all by Sophie, a rising cinema star. But things start to go awry as soon as they start skiing. Secrets, lies and manipulations will keep you awake at night. I really couldn't figure it out until the big reveal. 5 stars for me ! Thank you for the opportunity of an early review for this amazing thriller.
