Description

Chronic pain and illness affects millions of people around the world every day. In addition to the physical pain, many suffer the emotional isolation and depression their ongoing, debilitating conditions can bring. One such sufferer, Randi Maggid, who has found relief through non-traditional medical alternatives, bravely shares her story in her emotional and insightful new memoir, Beverly Hills Concentration Camp.

With names changed to protect the privacy of the book’s characters, Beverly Hills Concentration Camp opens on the present life of Alix, a seemingly-ordinary mom who, through a series of flashbacks, takes the reader along on her healing journey -- from the depths of severe physical pain and anguish to the heights of awakened spirituality and health.

In Beverly Hills Concentration Camp, Alix, the daughter of Jewish Holocaust survivors, recounts the unlikely emotional juxtaposition of growing up in a beautiful Spanish house in Beverly Hills with the weight of her family’s traumatic history in the concentration camps bearing down on her at every turn -- keeping her imprisoned by fear, negativity and neglect when all she wanted was to be a normal kid. Little did she know her past would eventually catch up with her, causing her years of physical pain that would eventually require the immediate surgery she was determined to avoid.

Exploring many alternate healing routes, focusing on gratitude, leading others to take risks and opening their hearts to love, nature and wholeness, Alix transforms not only herself, but also the lives of future generations.

A witty memoir as spellbinding as any novel, Beverly Hills Concentration Camp relates one woman’s experiences of healing her mind, body and soul. With a unique world view and voice that takes the reader on whirlwind emotional ride – from tears to laughter and back again – Beverly Hills Concentration Camp is one story not to be missed.
