Advance Praise

Author Dobie Holland takes us on a journey through his life, and in doing so, brings back memories and transports the reader back to theirs as well. He captures the innocence and joy of childhood with a writing style that draws you in and makes you smile. His stories become ours. I eagerly wait the next literary venture from Mr. Holland.

Featured Reviews

THE BOOK OF THREE by Dobie Holland is a collection of three short stories and are light and fun and a pleasure to read. The first, "Happy Birthday", is about a boy's fifth birthday and how much fun a five year old can have by just enjoying the little things like family, friends, and kindness. The second story, "Las Vegas Vervain", is about a journalist who is struggling with his priorities and realizes that jobs and money perhaps don't mean much if you are all alone. The third story, "The Class of 1969", recounts the meteoric rise and fall of the Cubs in 1969 told through the eyes of an eight year old boy.
I really like Dobie Holland's easy going style of writing and being a sports fan, I connected to the stories in a good way. A few times I felt like a tangent story or off topic thought was forced into the stories awkwardly, but it still didn't stop me from enjoying them.
I would recommend this collection to a sports fan, but really I think anyone would enjoy them, especially since two of the three stories are told from a child's point of view, which we all can relate to.
