This was a really interesting book. It definitely kept my attention. I loved the main storyline and the various subplots that weaved around it. I found myself excited to pick it up and read it again because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I enjoyed the characters and felt connected to them. It was an excited, enjoyable, and different read than I usually pick up but I'm so glad I did.

If you loved The Shack, I need you to put What the Mirror Sees on your radar NOW. This is one of those books I picked up not really knowing what to expect and ended up thinking, people need to find this one.

Mason is grieving the devastating loss of his wife when he finds a 150-year-old mirror at an auction. Sounds simple enough, right?

Except the mirror doesn't show you what you look like. It shows you what you're hiding.

Truth. Vulnerability. Grief. The things buried so deeply inside you that maybe even YOU don't want to see them.

As Mason begins trying to understand what the mirror is showing him, questions surrounding his wife's death start coming to the surface too.

This has mystery, secrets, supernatural elements, grief, faith, and healing, and I kept getting The Shack vibes while reading it. Not because it's the same story, but because it has that same ability to take something almost impossible to explain and use it to explore faith, loss, and what happens when you're forced to confront the things you've been running from.

And here's the crazy part: almost nobody has reviewed this book yet.

So I'm telling you about it BEFORE everyone else does.

If you love discovering those hidden-gem books that make you think and actually leave you feeling something after you've finished them, READ THIS ONE.! 4.5 stars. This one deserves readers.

Both philosophically and theologically, this book explores topics and questions that have perplexed Christians for decades. Readers will relish how author Steven C. Sorenson uses Scriptural support to validate many concerns that are so culturally relevant to today's society. On another level, readers might also find the topics that arise within the plotline to be morally and emotionally perplexing. Reading this novel, and the deeply troubling emotions that the main character navigates through on this engrossing mystery, might feel overwhelming and leave readers feeling emotionally distraught. However, learning the author's solid background and wonderful support system of friends and associates might restore the confidence of many.

What the Mirror Sees pulled me in almost immediately. The story follows a man grieving the loss of his wife who comes across a mirror at an auction house, and from there we gradually learn more about his loss, his wife, and the life they shared.

There was something particularly thought-provoking and poignant about the storyline. I found myself becoming increasingly invested in his story and the emotions surrounding his loss. The book drew me in from the beginning and held my attention throughout.

I have a feeling this is one of those books that will stay with me for a while. Even after finishing it, I can see myself continuing to think about the story and the questions it raises. A moving and memorable 4-star read for me.
