Interesting and unique story. Kept me hooked.

Awesome story. Just enough intrigue and angst to keep the reader engaged. As well as the ever faithful cliffhanger. Will be watching for book 2.

Of Demons & Stones by Anne L. Parks is book one in this continuing story of Kylie Tate and Alex Stone....so beware that there is a cliffhanger. I will honestly say that I loved this book and truly wanted their story to keep going. This is a lot of things going on in their story so it will be one you won't want to put down...so beware of that too. I just so happy to have found this author and can't wait for more of her books!

Kylie has been moving up in her company at a top criminal lawyer...but Kylie has to work still with her abusive ex boyfriend who almost killed her. Kylie kept it a secret from the firm due to threats from the ex boyfriend and the shame of his abuse attached with the story. Kylie has avoided all romantic encounters until she happens to meet Alex. Kylie is very much attracted to Alex but thinks that he wouldn't really give her a second look. But Alex it seems has started to notice her and asking her out. Kylie then thinks maybe he is staying with his one night affair reputation and that he might be the one to get her out into the dating world again. Kylie thinks this because she assumes this really wouldn't be very serious relationship for Alex. Kylie finds soon enough that Alex is wanting more than just a few dates and she does too. But the ex boyfriend too has started to notice that she is seeing Alex and starts to be more confrontational that he has been since they dated.

This story has a lot of drama, love, hero trying to protect 'his women' and also it would seem a possible secret that Alex has told Kylie about.

A great beginning to a new series! It had me captivated from the beginning!

Alex is your typical cocky man! Women owe him, so he thinks! No one has the capability to deny him...until he meets Kylie!

Kylie is focused on her career after escaping an abusive ex. She's a lawyer so she's very cautious with her surrounding (which her ex also helped her with the whole paranoid thing). She wasn't expecting to meet Alex stranded on the side of the road. She thinks nothing of helping him, until she meets him again.

I enjoyed this book! It's the first book that I've read by Anne L. Parks! I'm sure I'll be reading more by her!

Of Demons & Stones is my first book from Anne L. Parks. To say that I enjoyed this story is an understatement. I loved it! Kylie Tate is a lawyer who has worked very hard to achieve her current position in her law firm. In her personal life she is not as fortunate. You see she is a victim of dating violence. To top things off, her tormentor is a part of her daily life. This just one of several secrets that cause her very serious trust issues. Enter now, Alex Stone. Billionaire bachelor with a killer business sense. He too has painful secrets. Thanks to a malfunctioning Maserati, Alex and Kylie cross paths. This is the beginning of a fantastic story. Seeing how thier relationship develops keeps you glued to your device wanting to know what's next. Add a couple of loving friends and other supporting characters for the perfect intense read. The author wrote characters that you connect with. I am looking forward to reading more stories by Anne L. Parks.

Immediately, we meet Kylie, a strong take no prisoners criminal defense attorney who rescues a wealthy businessman having car trouble. Kylie is the type of heroine that every woman wants to be. She has had demon in her past, but she has overcome them (most of them anyway) to become a successful partner with a corner office in a prestigious law firm. Her only vulnerability an abusive past relationship with a co-worker, who won't leave the relationship in her past.

Alex is a billionaire businessman and confirmed bachelor, who cycles through women simply for business or pleasure. When he meets Kylie, he is quite amused by her charm and independence. Enticed by Kylie's strong personality, he and Kylie bond over shared secrets and similar pasts, as they fight against the ex-boyfriend stalker that wants to kill both Kylie and Alex.

The story moves quickly both in terms of suspense and the romance. Because Ms. Parks did a nice job of connecting Kylie and Alex before immediately sending them into a sexual relationship, the fast pace of the relationship seemed natural. Both characters are slightly older elevating this from the typical fray of miscommunication and trivial relationship obstacles to more serious issues regarding compatibility and security.

Ms. Parks creates characters that draw you in including the supporting characters. I loved Thomas and Jake as well as Alex's family and Kylie's friends. She also does a great job with dialogue that can be both witty and realistic.

My only hesitancy was in believing that Kylie would put up the abuse that she endured at the hands of her co-worker without reporting it. I do know that large legal firms value women as "less than" their male counterparts, so not reporting it could be plausible.

Overall, this was a great page turner that successfully combined romance and suspense!!!
